I have the Compro VideoMate Gold+ tv tuner ($59 from newegg, last I checked), which uses the same Philips chip, and it works "almost" perfectly

. Sometimes the audio in the recordings will shift 80% to the left channel after the first half second (I think that might only happen on one channel for me, WGN), and occasionally (maybe a couple/few times a week) it will display an error dialog when starting a recording session and will crash if you use the Web interface for a minute or so after that (after restarting just PVS, everything will work fine again). That last problem seems to start happening more often (every couple days), but I need to try debugging it before calling it a bug. It could be that it did that because a game was loaded; not sure. Other than that, it works perfectly! Nothing beats the novelty of watching streaming live tv from my computer when I'm stuck in the computer lab at my college, or recording every Fresh Prince episode to 2mbps WMV9 and easily cutting out the commercials (using the third-party IGCutter beta)

.
My advice: buy SnapStream

. Those problems might be specific to my computer and not the tuner chip, and even if they are real bugs, I bet SnapStream will fix them in the near future anyway. SnapStream is good enough to overlook small annoyances.
