Cannot Change Channels - DirecTV

Have been running BTV on one computer for years. Love it. However, every couple years I need to replace something, and BTV stops transmitting data correctly to the Low Speed Data port, and does not allow me to change channels.

I cannot for the life of me remember how I fixed it last time.

This time, power supply died, replaced it and my storage (non-boot) hard drive, put it back together, now cannot change channels.

I've been working on this problem for a couple days, and have tried various permutations in Setup Wizard to no avail.

Hauppauge HVR-1600
Rosewill tuner, works through Windows Media Player
RCA DRD515RB - using low speed data/Serial Port Tuner options
IR tuner supplied by Rosewill - from computer to Low Speed Data Port: USB port to USB to serial cable, to serial cable, to Low Speed Data Port. No conflicts with USB port - says "Prolific USB-To-Serial Port (COM2)" in Device Manager
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
BTV 4.9.3
DirecTV lineup

I can change channels using the RCA unit by pushing buttons on the front of the RCA unit.

If I start on channel 273 and press "501<enter>", the BTV display info at the bottom of the screen changes to channel 501, but the screen/TV program stays on channel 273. Repeats when any channel is entered on the Rosewill remote or via keyboard, always staying on channel 273. I've rerun the BTV Wizard with various options (DirecTV D10-100, D10-200, DirecTV Satellite Receiver 1, DirecTV Satellite Receiver 2, etc., Serial Port Tuner, ports 1 and 2), and still nothing.

Any idea what the right settings in the Wizard should be? Should I be trying Null Cable or USB-UIRT?

Everything worked fine a week ago. No idea what happened.

Have submitted a trouble ticket. No response as yet.

If you need further specs or want to look at debug info, let me know.

Any and all help appreciated.

Re: Cannot Change Channels - DirecTV

OK, did some further work on this.

I loaded dtvcon and got dtvcon to send signals to the RCA DRD515RB - changed the channels like a charm.! dtvcon needed to be set for COM2 and "old" command set, but it worked.

Thus it appears that the Low Speed Data port is not the problem, nor the connection from the computer to the LSD port of the RCA DRD515B.

Changed settings in Setup Wizard to "Serial Tuner" and Port 2. Also set the device to DirecTV D10-100. Still cannot change channels with BeyondTV.

It appears that somehow BeyondTV's channel has become "disconnected" from the channel on the DRD515RB. I can see the programming, say on channel 273, and the DirecTV indication is channel 273, but every time I boot into BTV it is on the last channel entered there, like 501. When I change from 501 to 207 in BTV, the DRD515RB does not follow, does not do anything. I've tried setting them on the same channel and powering everything down, rebooting, and changing channels, no luck. Have tried removing and reinserting cables, with and without power down, no luck. Stays on the same DirecTV channel on the DRD515RB. I can enter channels on BTV, the BTV indicates a changed channel, but the DRD515RB stays on the same channel.

Question:

Is there a way to clear out the "last channel" stored in BeyondTV? Something akin to clearing out a cache? deleting a dll or other data file? Or is there a way to reset BTV (manipulating the Wizard is not working, it stays on the last channel, even when I clear out the DirecTV channel listing and reload it)?

All help appreciated!

Re: Cannot Change Channels - DirecTV

Did a total hard drive wipe and reloaded everything - Windows 7, BTV, etc. Works fine after all that.

I still believe it was some type of Guide problem - DirecTV did not have a channel 200, for example, but one was listed in the BTV Web Admin. After I did a complete disk wipe, the BTV Web Admin had no channel 200. So some type of guide mismatch appears to have been the possible culprit.
