Black Screen

I have downloaded SnapStream lite and am trying to get it to work. No matter what I do, when I do a test record I get a black screen. It looks like it is recording a channel that is not tuned it. I hear the static sound and see a black screen, with white lines at the top.

I have tried channels throughout the spectrum thinking that it may have mislabeled or mixed up the channel line-up.

I have the AverMedia TV98 tv card and ATI Radeon 7200 video card with basic warner cable plugged in (channels 2-27).

The tv works fine with my TV 98 viewing software.

I have downloaded the lastest drviers for ATI and TV98 and am running Windows XP with the latest Direct X and media player installed.

My TV98 drivers are WDM and my video settings are:

Capture Interface: Direct Show
Direct Show Video Device: Conexant
Direct Show Audio Device: My sound card
Direct Show Video Input: Video Tuner (I have tried composite and S Video)
Enable Preview Pin: Disabled (when enabled I get no recording at all)
Tuning Interface: Direct Show
Broadcast Source: Cable (I have also tried cable -hrc)
Audio Adjust Mixer: Enabled

Any ideas on what I can try next?

Thanks in advanced!

The Attack of the Nines has taken its toll on poor PVS 2.0. First, the onslaught of Windows Media Player 9, a questionable "upgrade" from a previous version which seems to offer nothing new and useful save that it introduces problems transcoding and streaming to PVS 2.0. Next, the relentless assault by M$'s latest red-headed stepchild, DirectX 9, which has been met with staccato reports of various and sundry problems with SOME installations of PVS 2.0.

Odd, ain't it?

Your broadcast source should be "cable (standard)."

Did the Hardware Setup Wizard tune the channels correctly when you ran it? I.E. did you notice it omitting channels you know you cannot receive?

Have you installed third-party codecs?

Have you tried these recordings after a fresh reboot, and after killing all non-essential Windows programs?

Did you install PVS with a bunch of junk running, including, but not limited to, and especially your TV viewing software?
