HVR-2250 Recorded Time show length

I have built a new DVR with the following specs:
Windows XP SP3 (with the latest updates)
Beyond TV 4.9.2
AMD Phenom 9600 Quad-Core 2.3 GHz
4 GB of Ram
2 x 250 GB WD 7200 RPM (not in a raid they are separate hard drives 1 for OS 1 for recorded shows)
2 x PVR-500 (standard analog cable TV)
2 x HVR-2250 (standard analog cable TV)

When a recording is done on one of the HVR-2250 the length of time for the show shows up as 1 day 2 hours, that is for a show that is only 30 minutes long with a 5 minute padding before and after for a total of 40 minutes. The file size shows up as 1.8 GB (for DVD best quality) which is normal. Now I did have the PVR-500 time stamp recording issue and I did apply the fix.

Any help would be appreciated as currently I have no choice but to disable the HVR-2250 from being able to be used to record.

Re: HVR-2250 Recorded Time show length

Same thing happened to me after I installed the new drivers for the 2250 (v28162)..
I ended up going back to the older driver (v27323, dated 11/19/09)

Re: HVR-2250 Recorded Time show length

Well I downloaded and installed the drivers now I am just waiting for a time that the computer can reboot and then I can test out the new drivers, however I would like to retime all of the other shows do you know of a program that can do that?

Re: HVR-2250 Recorded Time show length

New Drivers ??? Those are the ones with the issues..
Go back to the last good drivers.. (27323)
If you go to Hauppauge support for the 2250, and look at the drivers..
The button that says "DOWNLOAD" are the old drivers (working ones),
to the right of that is a link to the new drivers (the ones that have an issue)..

I just ended up re-recording the shows...

Re: HVR-2250 Recorded Time show length

I know the new drivers have the issue I was referring to the newly installed old drivers (as I never installed the old drivers) and how did you reencode the shows?

I just deleted the messed up shows, and recorded the shows at a later date..

Re: HVR-2250 Recorded Time show length

please make sure they are coming from the 2250's as this issue sounds like the PVR-150/500 Hauppauge Timestamp issue where the recording is the right size physically by the timeline is messed up.

You can download the trial copy of VideoReDo and perform a quickstreamfix on the mpeg2 recording and see whether that resolves your issue.

If it is, then the most likely issue is the drivers, the tuner itself or there needs to be some registry settings changed to correct it. I haven't heard of this issue for the HVR-2250 though.

No other TV Tuners installed...

Re: HVR-2250 Recorded Time show length

I am sure it was the 2250 cards there were causing the issue as I looked in the log to see what tuner was used to record a show that was listed as being 1 day 2 hrs long. I did have the timestamp issue with the 500's however I applied the registry fix rebooted, disabled the 2250 cards in beyond TV and my system recorded shows just fine. Thanks for the VideoReDo program I will be trying that out right now. Also the unit is now recodring on the 2250's and it is not having any issues like it was having before.

Re: HVR-2250 Recorded Time show length

Ok so I have been trying to use VideoReDo however every attempt I try it only does 14 minutes or so. I am thinking I may have to try and record them again.

Re: HVR-2250 Recorded Time show length

I too am having the same problem with a 2250 and this is the only card in a brand new system. I am going to try the older drivers as Bill suggested but wanted to let anyone finding this thread that I have been able to fix every recording with VideoRedo as suggested above.

Bill,

Thank you... thank you... thank you!

The old drivers solved my problem now everything is running perfectly.
As a matter of fact, I have had virtually no problems running all my important software on my new machine with Win7 x64 as the OS and a nice fast i7 processor.

Thanks again as this will save me a lot of time putting all those shows through VideoRedo to fix them.

Re: HVR-2250 Recorded Time show length

I was having the same issue with the 28162 drivers on my 2250, getting about 25% corrupted files when recording mpeg2. I rolled back to the 27323 drivers and unfortunately my problems got much worse. I am now about 75% corrupted mpeg2 files. ugh.
