Thumbs up ADS IR Blaster Drivers for Windows 7 - READ THIS POST FIRST

The Story:
After I upgraded to Windows 7 (64) my ADS IR Blaster became a $25 paperweight (the drivers I downloaded from Kinamax wouldn't work).

I also had all kinds of problems with the Hauppauge IR blaster changing my STB (with very little help from Snapstream & Hauppauge).

The Solution:
Since three companies wouldn't provide adequate support, my frustration got the better of me and I fiddled around and succeeded in making my own drivers.

I'll share these drivers. Follow the Instructions below.

__

Instructions to get drivers:
1) click on my ID and select "Send a Private Message to Rev1979" (you'll have to register in this forum and make a post before you can send a PM).
2) Then send me a PM WITH YOUR EMAIL. I'll send you the drivers. (Note: I WILL NOT EVEN RESPOND TO THOSE WHO DON'T INCLUDE THEIR EMAIL ADDRESS IN THE PM.) FYI GMAIL doesn't allow zip files.
3) send me a money order for $100 ... not really, THERE'S NO CHARGE, just pay the generosity forward! (oh, a "thank you" would be nice)
Driver Versions:
05/19/2010 - 2.06.02
01/20/2011 - 2.08.08
05/11/2012 - 2.08.24

Re: ADS IR Blaster Drivers for Windows 7

Larry,

Glad you got the UAC issue resolved! As I said, since I disable that from the get-go, this was never an issue for me with these drivers.

FWIW, Kinamax would never even respond to me about drivers for Win7-64, that's why I fiddled around and came up with these myself.

Re: ADS IR Blaster Drivers for Windows 7

Would you ADS driver work with 32-bit Windows 7? If so or if you'd like me to try that out, would you please sent them my way? Many thanks.

Re: ADS IR Blaster Drivers for Windows 7

Hi Rev :-) I was just wondering if I could get a copy of your IR Driver for windows 7 64bit? I am very interested in using this for my laptop for room control but it won't let me install it!

Thank you very much for your time!

Re: ADS IR Blaster Drivers for Windows 7

Since SnapStream won't let me post a private message to you unless I've posted at least one message to a forum, this is my post: Does Microsoft believe that if we buy a box with Win7/64 that we must then be too stupid to control a settop box manually? Why don't they have an option to allow the set top box input come through even if they can't control it? Grrr. I bought an ADS IR Blaster, but now I need drivers. I'll ask Rev in a PM after I get this post published. *Sigh*
