Beyond TV uninstalls in Windows 7
Hi,
I've been experiencing some bizarre things with Beyond TV under Windows 7 Ultimate. I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and also was able to get Snapstream's IR Blaster to work with the digital cable box Comcast has provided with their move to all digital format. Everything was working great last weekend. However, fast forward to this weekend. Apparently there was some event, whether it was an automatic upgrade that required a reboot or a power failure, I don't know but this morning, I noticed that Beyond TV was not running. There was also no short cut on the desktop and when I tried to find it in the menu, there was a SnapStream selection, but no Beyond TV program available under it. I went back to my original installation backup and reinstalled and everything was restored, including my recording schedule. That's ok but I don't want to have to reinstall Beyond TV every time I reboot my PC. Has anyone had a similar experience? Help is appreciated. Regards, Paul O. |

Re: Beyond TV uninstalls in Windows 7
Did you check the Program Files directory to see if it was still installed? I'm running it on Win7 x64 and when I was playing around with the UAC I lost some entries in the start up menu but all the application including BTV where still installed. You may also want to check your event logs to see if they can tell you anything.

Re: Beyond TV uninstalls in Windows 7
Crooze,
You sir, are correct! The Beyond TV Start Menu item was missing but the entire program was still installed! So, it wasn't because of any type of system shutdown. I looked at the log and found the following suspicious entry: [2010/1/12 22:02:00] CPVSRecorder: etachFromBaseEngine - StopBaseEngine begins.[2010/1/12 22:03:00] Detected a hang when trying to stop a recording! [2010/1/12 22:03:01] Beyond TV detected a problem with the recorder "External Cable Box - Hauppauge WinTV 885 Video Capture" and recycled it. [2010/1/12 22:03:01] Adding error: '10' with message: '<PropertyCollection><Property><Name>Recorder</Name><Value>External Cable Box - Hauppauge WinTV 885 Video Capture</Value></Property></PropertyCollection>' to the warning system [2010/1/12 22:03:02] Setting system wakeup time: 1/13 8:57 PM [2010/1/12 22:06:59] Guide Updater Service: Incremental update complete. [2010/1/12 22:06:59] Guide Updater Service: Download took 15 seconds. Processing took 542 seconds. [2010/1/12 22:07:05] BTV Scheduler Singleton changed 'GuideDataMinimum' from '129075660000000000' to '129077280000000000' [2010/1/12 22:07:05] BTV Scheduler Singleton changed 'GuideDataMaximum' from '129086782800000000' to '129089374800000000' [2010/1/12 22:07:09] BTV Scheduler cleared popularity jobs [2010/1/12 22:07:10] Setting system wakeup time: 1/17 7:57 PM [2010/1/12 22:07:11] Setting system wakeup time: 1/13 8:57 PM The last two lines are interesting. In addtion, the next day there is a short entry in the log: [2010/1/13 01:34:21] The ViewScape is closing itself due to a close message. Version 4.9.2 (Build 6323) [2010/1/13 01:34:22] Shutdown of the UI processes complete. [2010/1/13 01:34:31] Shutdown of the worker services complete. [2010/1/13 01:34:31] Finishing shutdown... There were no more log entries until I restarted Beyond TV manually last weekend. Everything seems to be recording properly once it gets started, but it doesn't restart automatically on boot anymore. Not perfect, but I can at least cope with it for now. Paul O. |

Re: Beyond TV uninstalls in Windows 7
I have not updated my sig yet, but I have been running on Win7 Pro since last summer so I doubt it is the OS itself.
Do you have more that one user account? Is it possible to installed in one account then logged into a different one later?

Re: Beyond TV uninstalls in Windows 7
Go in to the Web Admin in Advanced Settings > Miscellaneous Settings and change the Default Beyond TV Interface setting to get it to start with windows again.
