Error 46

I get this error alot! -- Beyond TV detected that a transport stream recording received no data for 30 seconds. If this problem occurs repeatedly, your digital signal might be weak or missing. --

I re-run setup and the signal is ~98! Is 100 max? Or is this low and I need a better ant?
Also if I go to Live Tv it playes fine, even if the error just occured!
If I need a better ant, any suggestions?

Re: Error 46

Bubba,

Does this happen to be with the HD PVR? I have the same issue from time to time and suspect the HD PVR is locking up. Still digging myself.

More system info will help you get some better help with your problem.

Re: Error 46

I have the same problem with my AverMedia m780 in HD OTA only. It seems to happen more when my antenna is not pointing the right direction, but appears to also happen when I should have perfect signal.

Has anyone discovered anything further with this issue?

I have had this happen to me 3 times since installing the 4.9.2 beta. All three times it was on one of my Hauppauge tuner cards.

I had it happen twice last night. One on my HVR-1950 USB tuner and one on the second tuner of my HVR-2250 card. Both generated the error and after the show finished it was deleted because they were zero byte files.

I had seen this very rarely in the past but never lost a video until now.

One would think that if the software is smart enough to realize that it has not received a signal for 30 senconds that it could recyle and restart the recording. BUUUUUT NOOOOOOOO!

Mike

Re: Error 46

I am also getting this error a lot lately. I recently switched my sleep mode to S3 from S2 to see if the PC would sleep after recording. It does now go to sleep on it's own with Power Settings on the PC. I had to close the Viewscape to make this happen. But since I have been doing this, I see many more 46 errors and 0 bytes with corrupt file. I don't know if coincidence or not. am going to go back to Sleep state 2 to see if problem is corrected.
very frustrating!

I have found this issue was caused by BTV changing my lineup when it detected that the COX lineup has changed.

BTV changed the lineup to match the new COX lineup but the new channels were bad. Nothing gets recorded. (zero byte files).

I have to go and rerun the setup and remap the channels. Then all is good again.

Unfortunately, COX changed my lineup many times recently.

Only my HD channels were effected by this issue.

Re: Error 46

I had this issue show up with 4.9.2 beta too.

I use QAM and a HD HomeRun.

I updated the HDHR software and firmware. (it has a fix to detect a tuner left in the wrong state and release it) and the problem went away.

I think this problem has to do with the new feature in the beta that leaves a tuner for just tv and locks it our from recording.

I would find that during multiple recordings back to back, is where the problem would occur... it would be my last tuner that would mess up, but If I stopped the bad recording and tried again, it would record. So, the tuner does work, there is just a timing issue of it being released.
