Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support

No I havnt tried it, besides the file versions posted on the site being the same, the only difference is one being listed in their beta area and dated for 07/01/2010.

Since my setup is running good so far, i'm not risking trying them yet (if its not broken, dont fix it, isnt that what they say heh).

edit: Had time to check each file size now and indeed, its the same version. No idea why they decided to post that on their site with different timestamps tho....

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support

meh, I just think at this point it's SS's problem with the A/V drift since it works fine with these and previous drivers in Sage and no change in BTV. But they won't admin it or try to do anything to fix it.

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support

I installed the lastest Hauppauge drivers a couple of days ago. Did anyone notice that it seems to take longer to change channels?

Right now from live tv when I change changes on an HDPVR channel, the screengoes black, comes back breifly with the original channel and you see the channel numbers for the new channl (from my cable box). Then the screen goes black again for a longer time period. When then new channel comes up, it appears it is out of sync for a short bit before finally playing correctly.

Now that you mention it, something I recorded this morning did as you described, I think. I haven't been able to watch many things over the last few days, I will try a few other recordings later tonight and see if I see that again.

I also see a major lag in the most recent drivers, both when changing channels and when "buffering" during the 1st 30 seconds are so of watching.

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support

Atleast I am not unique. That is not much fun being unique wrt to the HD-PVR.

Everything seem to work just slow transitioning.I will leave the drivers installed for a bit before making a decision to return to the previous version.

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support

Anyone have any idea where I may find a place to download the older Hauppauge drivers? 1.5.6.1 and the new 1.5.7.0 completely break my HD PVR. No video gets captured in any program I've tested. I have the drivers that came w/ the HD PVR but unfortunately they don't handle 5.1 SPDIF.

If anyone has an older release besides the ones I listed I would appreciate if they could upload them somewhere for me.

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support

There is a link to the 1.5.6.1 driver on this page.

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support

Had to happen, I'm now getting lots of Error 11's on one of my HDPVR's. It still records the show, but the email shows a ton of errors.

The only thing that's changed though is that my UPS died and I swapped it out with a good power strip. It'll be interesting to see if the errors go away when I get the UPS back in service with a new battery.

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support

I had a weird one the other day myself. I had a crash that my bat file couldn't catch. The log file never generated the text it needed it just kept cycling the HDPVR over and over. I had to manual reset the HDPVR. It even screwed up the back up recording in SD. It SD tuner recorded it, but BTV didn't close out the file correctly or something. It wouldn't play, but it was the correct length. I had to run it through VideoReDo, and then it was fine. So at least I didn't lose the show, just the HD version. Hasn't happened again.

Well I did finally determine that I was resetting the wrong HDPVR. And it was missing some of the recordings. I sure wish that BTV used the friendly tuner names in the log for ALL log entries so you could easily tell which tuner was barfing up.

Shortly after that I got my new UPS battery in and back in service. Since then, no more problems.

So, unfortunately I can't say definitively that using the UPS made the difference, but I haven't had any more problems so I'm not taking it out of the loop any time soon.

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support

With 76 pages to read through now in this thread it has become exceedingly difficult to determine how I should go about setting up my HTPC to work with an HD PVR and my Comcast STB. Can anyone PM me, or post here, the cliff notes version of what is mostly working at present? Thanks.

The list as I remember it.

1. Cover the IR port on the HDPVR with Tape.
2. Power cycle the unit at least once a day.
3. Lock STB output,(720p, 1080i).
4. Set unit on it's side to allow better airflow.
5. There are a couple of methods of auto re-booting the unit when an error occurs.
One is described here.
The other is described in here and here.

I think that is about it, maybe others will remember something else.

6. Avoid using the built-in IR blaster if at all possible.
7. Some people have trouble with newer drivers. 1.0.5.3 seems to be pretty stable.

Added my 2 cents.

You may or may not need to power cycle the unit. I rarely do that to mine as they just don't need it. My system auto-reboots twice a week and I think that helps to prevent it, but it's just a theory.

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support

Number 1 on my list might be confusing, as I put IP port and I meant IR. I corrected it, but Zogg's reply still has the IP in it.
