Community Web Admin Update

I have built a new page to replace the library page (home.aspx). It is somewhat similar with a few neat features and a slightly different look. It supports sorting by clicking the header (reverse sort by clicking a second time), also supports paging 25 entries per page. It has shortcuts where you can specify folder=[Folder Name] or series=[Series Name] in the URL. There is a toolbar to replace the dropdown menu for global functions. The second to last item on the toolbar is a filter. You can currently filter by text against the name and/or description and also limit by showsqueezed or not as well as by category/genre.

To Install:
Shutdown Beyond TV. Find your webroot directory (usually C:\Program Files\Snapstream Media\BeyondTv\wwwroot). Backup the entire directory (and subdirectories). Then unzip the zip file directly on top of that directory and restart and you should be go to go.

UPDATED: I added in play links into the menu in the grid.

UPDATED 12/5/07 - Added in the Style sheet for the popup control. Activated in filter by Genre also disabled the move selected shows as this functionality has not been finished yet. Fixed issue with the selection of the first item on the list. Also added in a [Select Folder] and [Select Series] entry at the top of each list.

UPDATED: 12/9/07 - Added the editjob.aspx page to the zip file.

UPDATE: 12/11/07 - Fixed layout of shows/series dropdown. Added in drive space information. Restored support for multiple user setup.

UPDATE: 12/20/07 - Added in lock for readonly shows. Finished filtering added in refresh button. I am basically done!!!

UPDATE: 12/21/07 - Added in missing refresh icon. Added in MP4 streaming thanks to DonK.

UPDATE: 12/23/07 - Wired refresh icon to the correct method. Found bug with reversing the sort (it is not yet fixed).

UPDATE: 12/25/07 - Fixed issues with multi-select and filtering/paging. Fixed reverse sorting issue.

UPDATE: 12/26/07 - Added back in the ability to turn on/off VLC Streaming via the setupstreaming page.

UPDATE: 1/3/08 - Fixed issue with security and options, edit and move missing from options menu on library pages.

Re: Community Web Admin Update

Ok, I noticed another thing.

When I click on Group by Series it shows the series dropdown box and shows the first series in the box. If I actually want to sort by that series I would have to click on another series and then go back to the first one. I think it should either automatically sort by the first series when the dropdown box first shows up, or it should start with the selected option of "Select a series..."

Same goes for recording folder, but that one isn't really a big deal for me because I use the recording pool.

Re: Community Web Admin Update

Ok, I'm sure you are getting sick of me now, but I found a bug. When I try to sort by the first series in the dropdown box I get all of my shows and not just the shows in that series.

Is anyone else experiencing that bug?

Re: Community Web Admin Update

There are buttons to mark a show as watched or new. Is there a way to show that in the list of shows, such as using an icon or something?

Re: Community Web Admin Update

Overall, I love the new home.aspx page. Great work!

Here's my list of comments, suggestions, etc:

1). Filter Box: I like the filter box but it takes up too much space at the top of the page. I would suggest to make it wider so that it's not so tall. Maybe make the filter box closed by default and then use ajax to make it as a popup-type window or shift the remaining page down as it's opened.

2). I like the way the shows are listed. It's cleaner and easier to read than the normal library page. The popup menu for the options works much better now than in the previous versions. I always had an annoying alignment problem before, but that seems to be fixed now.

3). I like the new menu icons. I liked the popup menu that you put on the library page, but the new menu icon configuration in much better.

4). I like that the show listings are broken up so that there are several pages of them, instead of the default library page's 'list all shows' configuration. My only suggestion would be to add a drop-down to change the number of show listings per page (such as: 20, 30, 40, 50 options).

5). The drive space information is missing. It would be nice to have that on the home.aspx page.

6). I love the sort by clicking the header function. That was always a feature that was sorely missing.

Everything else I was going to comment on falls into the 'broken' category, but you already said that the page wasn't finished so, I won't bother.

Overall, it's looking great so far.

2. I'm sure you've already thought of this, but when clicking "Close" would there be a way to raise everything up on the screen instead of just leaving a blank wasted space in its place?

3. Everything else looks great!

Edit: 4. I like the icons!

Thanks for all your hard work!
What browser are you using for that. The option menu is supposed to be a floating popup. I mainly test in firefox, so everything has been really designed for it. I haven't had a chance to test with IE or anything else yet.

I know about this one and I am working on a way around this. There is a bug with dual dropdownlists on the same form and firing the selected event so it is painful to hack around it. I am thinking of putting in a dummy entry saying <Select Folder> or <Select Series> not the best solution but all I have so far.

There are a few missing pieces, the in progress marker for a recording in progress. The locked icon and watched icons are other pieces I need to add somewhere.

I use firefox as well. I also opened it up in IE to see if there was any difference and there was not.

I probably left the updated style sheet out that is causing that issue. Sorry. I will try to post an update either tonight or tomorrow. I don't have it handy here but there is an entry something like
.floatBox
{
display: block;
position: absolute;
z-index: 100;
visibility: hidden;
background-color: #EFF3FB;
border: solid 1px #B5C7DE;
}
missing from the css file.

See updates in first post. Still have one or two minor issues to work out but it is getting close.

Re: Community Web Admin Update

I reinstalled with the updated package last night. The updated style sheets worked great. The Filter box looks much better now.
