I'm having a problem with recordings randomly failing.

I've attached the full log, but a snippet showing a failure is:

[2007/9/1 20:59:01] PVSBaseEngine - TV Audio mode set - stereo.
[2007/9/1 20:59:01] PVSBaseEngine - TV Audio mode set - SAP Language A.
[2007/9/1 20:59:27] BTV Recorder failed to attach to graph.
[2007/9/1 20:59:27] Failed to dispatch Naruto on Standard Cable - Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture

This missed one of my son's desired recordings - he's not pleased with Snapstream right now... (show's only on once a week and rarely repeats)

All recordings are made with the same settings (NTSC DVD Ready X-Hi-Res quality), and things work fine most of the time.

The entire log file is attached.

(btw, the deleted files starting around 22:45 is me moving files around; one of my disks was getting full...)

The system has been running fine for years; I did have a severe stuttering problem which has been taken care of by disabling library updates as in knowledgebase article:http://snapstream.helpserve.com/inde...articleid=1462

Running Beyond TV 4.6.1 on Windows 2000
3 tuners; one Hauppauge USB, two PVR-250 PCI cards, more details below.

Any ideas?

try, reinstalling your video, sound and tv tuner drivers....re-run the btv setup wizard, delete your sources and re-add them.....do you have any antivirus, spyware or firewall software?

Oy... no to anti-virus/anti-spyware/firewall; this machine is a dedicated Snapstream machine in the living room, so I felt safe without all that. I *have* run some scans on it manually; no joy there.

The one thing I did change system-wise was a while back I combined most of the drives into one big drive (I forget the terminology; dynamic drives... Windows 2000-stuff) Then I found I couldn't defrag it - too big and Diskkeeper complained I needed a different (and more expensive!) version. Tried a few others and finally gave up and split the drives up again. Possibly some problem leftover from that.

We did have the stuttering problem mentioned above; that seems ok now. (there are a lot of odd performance issues like that - try deleting a recording when you've got a ton of 'em, or tell it not to record something when there's a lot of recordings scheduled... click 'yes' and wait... wait... wait... 5 seconds is an *eternity* in a user-interface - and big irritation if you're erasing 20 or 30 shows. but that's a whole other issue...)

It'll be a few weekends before I can get the time to really rebuild the machine like that - maybe I'll just redo it from the ground up... reinstall Windows etc. (although there's very little that's been installed on this machine, but still, it's probably been 2 or 3 years that it's been running...)

I'll post more news after I've done the rebuild/reinstalls.

Re: failed recordings - BTV Recorder failed to attach to graph

Do a search of the boards. This problem has been discussed previously and there could be a solution for you.
Split your OS from your recordings partition. Don't bother defragging. Check your video drivers on the 5200(this is generally the problem). If your playback has been good, you're probably ok, but your card is at the bottom of the level for performance.

As far as the missed show, download it with P2P like Azureus.
