Corrupt MPEG 2 HD Video Files
What would cause some of the programs I'm recording late at night to become corrupt and unplayable by BTV unless I repair them first? I noticed that these files are playable with Windows Media Player, however, they can not be fast forwarded or rewound. These files end with TP and are HD. I'm running the latest version of BTV with Windows XP Home Edition. Sorry if this question has been previously answered and I failed to see it.

Re: Corrupt MPEG 2 HD Video Files
too many dropped frames, quickstream fix with videoredo will show the dropped frames (and make them playable) Not sure if it is related to signal quality or strictly hardware. Could improve with general htpc maintenance, defrag, etc.

Re: Corrupt MPEG 2 HD Video Files
Thanks, ZetaVu. The MPEG repair software make the files viewable in BTV, however, I loose all the program information. Do you think that anti virus software could be causing this? I don't think the hard drives need defragmentation yet, since the system is less than a week old.

Re: Corrupt MPEG 2 HD Video Files
People have had issues, Norton seems the worst, I suspect it is hardware or something, I had issues but it went away in my tinkering, never had antivirus.
You can use Fonceur's BTV Negotiator to regain (or copy I think) program info, I use it to download data from imdb on shows that I process outside of BTV. http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/show...069#post256069

Re: Corrupt MPEG 2 HD Video Files
Since you're using atsc capture by the looks of it; has there been a pattern of poor weather in the evenings/night times that could be throwing your signal off?

Re: Corrupt MPEG 2 HD Video Files
I don't think it's poor weather. The files I've fixed with mpeg 2 repair appear perfectly during playback (but without any of the program information available). The other night, the same thing occurred (file not found/corrupt) when I tried viewing a program that was currently recording via the recorded shows menu. However, I could access the recording perfectly by going to live TV and then rewinding to the beginning of the file. Once the show was finished recording I could no longer open it in BTV. This appears to be occurring randomly even after I've turned off my Virus software.
