Why isn't Heroes recording tonight?

I had Heroes set up to record on two different BTV installations at two different locations here in town and neither one of them recorded it. I can look at the schedule and see that they are set to record, they show up on the upcoming recording list but they just don't record. I was able to set one of the systems to do a manual recording and it started immediately. The other system I've tried setting Heroes to not record then I tell it to record and it doen't do anything.

Any ideas at all? There's no reference to Heroes in the log at all and no error messages.

It did record fine for me. I think NBC replays the entire episode on their website for a short time so you might want to check it out there.

This is a problem that some of us have periodically seen, where a scheduled recording just does not go for some reason with no mention in the log as to why.

I'd submit a support case on this, just to help add to the data SS gets on this problem. Hopefully they will find the cause and soon!

And fortunately you can watch it online, I've had to do that with a few shows this year. Minimize or close BTV, fire up the web browser, maximize it and surf to nbc.com. To get a larger picture I have had to temporarily change to a lower resolution, but at least you get to watch your show. Not like the old days when you are just out of luck.

I submitted a support ticket while Heroes should have been recording so I was able to send them the diagnostic info during the problem. Hopefully it will give them some decent info to work with.

Thanks for the suggestion about NBC.com. I know Heroes is up there so that was immediately my backup plan. I've been cutting commercials and saving the episodes so watching it online one solves part of my problem. Fortunately for me I have a friend that recorded the episode so I should be able to get it full size.

I think the problem might have had something to do with the dual tuners in my 500. It was like part of BTV knew I had dual tuners and part of it though I only had one. After 24 was done recording I noticed that BTV recorded the 2 minutes of padding for Heroes. It appears that it knew it was supposed to be recording it but it didn't ever give me a conflict warning because it knows I have dual tuners. I wonder if this only happens on multituner systems.

I logged in to check mine, and it recorded Heroes as scheduled.

Heroes replays on SCI-FI if you missed the episode from Monday. I believe Friday. PLUS there is a Heroes marathon for all 21 episodes this weekend.
