No Sound in playback of recording-HELP!
Ok, here's the problem. When I select any prerecorded show, there's no sound. When I play that show in VLC it's there. But the interface had a yellow triangle showing me that there were errors and that it could not detect a sound card. Although all of the interface blimps, and beeps sound just fine.
I rebooted from turned off, and re-ran the setup wizard, neither has fixed it. Nothing is checked off in the sound mixer area and I have not performed any work on this system in weeks. I now also go into LIVE shows and I don't have sound either. I'm quite sure that going forward any recorded shows won't have sound and my wife will be pissed, Greys Anatomy is on tonight and didn't record last night due to conflicts in scheduling. Anyone else see this problem, or know what else I can try? Thanks, jake

Re: No Sound in playback of recording-HELP!
Does your sound come from PC speakers, or are you connected to a receiver ? Do the recordings play back with sound on another PC ?

Re: No Sound in playback of recording-HELP!
They're direct connect speakers, and although I haven't tested sound in another computer, the same recording will play in VLC media player just fine. But I think now that BTV saw an error, all future recordings or playback from LIVE aren't giving my sound.

Re: No Sound in playback of recording-HELP!
ok, here's something strange. I just tested a simple recording, and it did record sound, but I can't hear it in BTV, just VLC.
I thought it might be one tuner card or the other, but I tried playback on my SD and HD cards with the same result. Boy, I hate this stuff!!! Especially when you get it all working, leave it totally alone, and then this.

Re: No Sound in playback of recording-HELP!
I know you said in the first post you tried some of these things but try agian
try these things: try to rerun BTV setup wizard to see if it fixes. try to go to windows sound recorder (playback and record) to see if anything is muted and volumes are at a max. when running btv press O or G on the keyboard and see change your sound settings to 2 channel, then 5.1 then to spdif to see if any of that helps. Another thing. Is this an on board sound card or did you add a sound card? If so, then make sure your onboard sound card is disabled. Also, go to device manager to make sure you don't have any yellow !. last, which version of BTV are you running? If not running 4.6.1, try to update to see if that fixes it. Quote:
I previously tried step 1 and 2 above, but your Step 3 got me thinking. O and G didn't seem to have any change, but then I opened the OPTIONS interface from my Firefly remote. I changed the audio to 2 channel, 5.1, SPDIF and finally back to 2 channel, and I got the sound. Thanks A LOT! I was considering at some point having to re-install BTV. It's just become such a common practice and I hate to have to do that. As much as I use BTV, there's always something else to try. Jake Actually O and G do work, I was using the wrong keyboard...O and G are both linked to that OPTIONS key.
