Only get mpeg-2 as recording format

I've got the PVR-500 and BTV 4.6 and can only record in mpeg-2 format, the dropdown box is greyed out. I realize the card does mpeg-2 hardware encoding but isn't it capable of other formats like wmv in software encoding?

Re: Only get mpeg-2 as recording format

Nope, the PVR-500 can only do mpeg-2 and then you could use ShowSqueeze to convert it to divx(avi) or wmv.

Re: Only get mpeg-2 as recording format

the pvr-500 is not a software encoding card. as such you cannot use any other format for recording. if you had a supported software encoding card the dropdown menu would be available.
