how do i get rid of the black bars?
hi..
i've a pc connected to my 37" lcd tv via regualr monitor connection, i also added power strip to allow me to use the tv's natural resoltuion of 1378x768, and i get the desktop full screen. however whenever i watch (with either leadtek or pvr-150) tuners, in full window i always see black bars on the LEFT and RIGHT sides of the image. connecting the lcd directly to the set-top box of the cables, yields a full screen bright picture. is there any possiblity of doing the same with image via the pc? (the recordings also have black bars). |

no, that doesn't work exactly, i mean i allready tried it, and it does fill the string but by stretching the figures, they don't look like that on regualr tv.

Re: how do i get rid of the black bars?
Since regular TV has an aspect ration of 4:3, when you're using BTV you will not get a picture that fills the full screen. If you switch BTV to 16:9 then it simply takes the 4:3 image and stretches it.
HD TV's will take a 4:3 image and chop it into a number of vertical stripes starting in the middle of the picture with the stripes getting larger as they extend to the edges of the picture. Then these stripes are resized so that the stripes in the middle of the image stay as close to normal perspective as possible and the stripes going out are scaled more and more. When you watch an SD image on an HD TV that's been scaled like this, you can notice image aspect changing as they extend off they screen. Long story short, you're stuck with the bars.

Re: how do i get rid of the black bars?
This is what happens when viewing a fullscreen video on a widescreen monitor, it happens with my TV and straight cable, it's a widescreen tv and when I watch fullscreen TV (ie most channels) I get bars. You deal with them, zoom in so it cuts off the top and bottom to make it get rid of them, or stretch it. You'll get used to the stretching after a while.

Re: how do i get rid of the black bars?
i can't zoom becouse it's cuts the sub-titles (i don't really need them, it's just annyoing).
but how is it possible that the same image beign displaye with black bars, get displayed without them ,when being played from a dvd player which can read divx? (i've connected the divx player via s-video). |

Make sure that you have the "Non-Square Pixel Comensation" set to disabled, in the playback settings. I had the same issue.
