Battlestar Galactica: Where does it get good?

I have the DVDs now. Is it a series that is great straight off, or should I skip a season and start with 2? They also have the companion "Series Up To Now" disk to catch me up if I want to start at season 3.

How I never watched this show is beyond me.

I would start at the beginning. Watch the original made-for-tv movie and then season 1. The storyline builds each season so it would be best to watch from the beginning. I like the series and most of the episodes, but occassionally get bored with it.

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Where does it get good?

You have to start at the beginning, the Sci-Fi channel miniseries. Then go on to season 1. The miniseries is awesome, the first half on season 1 is a bit slow, then it picks up and takes off from there.

You can't really skip anything, it's a serial story, and you would be missing too much backstory if you skipped the beginning.

Well I mainly like the space ships. Which episodes have space ships?

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Where does it get good?

if you want 'epic' space battles, season 2's resurrection ship (part 1 and 2)... as well as this season's exodus (part 1 and 2)

but like everyone has said, it's serial show, you'll miss out on why these episodes are dramatic.

but if you just want space battles, these are two of the better/best ones.

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Where does it get good?

You would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't watch them in order, starting with the Miniseries. One of the best parts about the 1st two seasons is not knowing who is a Cylon .. you would spoil that by jumping ahead.

But, if it's just the eye candy you're looking for, and don't care about good drama, the ins-and-outs of politics, military ops and character development, I agree Exodus Part 2 is awesome (one scene in particular involving the Galactica during the rescue attempt!) There's also an excellent dogfight in the episode I think called "Scar".

Not every episode has spacecraft, but when they DO have battle scenes .. nice!

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Where does it get good?

I just started and initially started with season one. Didn't work. Went back and watched the miniseries and am 8 episodes in now. Really enjoying it.

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Where does it get good?

If you're serious about getting into it, you need to watch it from the beginning... It's seriously the BEST sci-fi show I've EVER seen and I'm picky as hell!!

The mini series is awesome from start to finish

Season 1 is mostly boring but necessary... hand of god is my fav season 1 ep... they're just starting out so they don't have a huge budget for tons of space battle scenes.

Season 2 is pretty slick and once you get halfway through, you'll get hooked!

Season 3 has one of the best moments in sci-fi tv history! You'll drop your jaw when you see what Adama pulls in the 3rd and 4th eps! Drama seems to rule the rest of the season thusfar. Too tragic.

Enjoy it... Ron D Moore and Dave Eick worked a miracle on BSG
