compact PVR server/HTPC

CompUSA will be running an ad on this Acer media PC starting Sunday:

http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...ct_code=341979

It's currently listed for $530 but starting Sunday it will have a $210 rebate for a total of $320.

Does anyone have any experience with it? It looks like a good candidate for an inexpensive PVR server if you just add USB2 analog and HDTV tuners and upgrade the disk. For the given spces it may even be good enough for playing back HDTV contents. With such a low price, you can afford to buy two - one as PVR server and the second as settop HTPC (it has a DVI output for those HDTV/HD monitor with DVI input). I don't see TV-out or S-Video out, though, so it may not make a good STB for analog TV.

Re: compact PVR server/HTPC

Wow, that is nice. I spent $750 on my Aopen MiniPC. Another feature that it doesn't have is digital audio output...I'm not keen about 6 analogs. TV-outs seem to have lousy video quality, so that doesn't seem like much of a loss. It'd make a great Link box for people with the right setup.

Re: compact PVR server/HTPC

What makes you say it won't do wide screen? I've got the GMA945 driving three different HDTVs. Two 1080p and one 720p.

That's definitely a problem. I'm suddenly feeling better about my MiniPC's price.

Re: compact PVR server/HTPC

It is different, so maybe it doesn't. I'd be more concerned about the Celeron
