Can I manually tune in a digital channel?

Hi,

I'm using Fusion5 to get OTA HD channels. BTV can tune in all channels except for one. (I can tune in this channel using Fusion, GBPVR and SageTV.)

I suspect the problem lies in channel tuning information in BTV being wrong.

Is it possible to manually override this information?

FYI, I submitted a ticket to snapstream 2 weeks ago, but they haven't been able to fix it.

BTV does a full channel scan, so if it's not there, than it's not seeing it. What happened during the channel scan?

Maybe the channel isn't in the guide that BTV searches for using the area code. Try using a diff area code?

Re: Can I manually tune in a digital channel?

To answer both your questions,

During the manual scan, BTV tunes in the channel fine. So the signal is there. But after the setup, from the program guide, BTV can't tune in the channel. I know it's weird but it's a known issue here in this area.

Another funny thing is that from Live TV, if I change the channel to the problematic one, BTV can find it. (Also same behavior with other local ppl.) But this is no use for scheduling recording.

Until BTV fixes this problem, the only way to solve it is to override the tuning information and provide a manual one.

I have already tried it. But all zip codes in western new york give the same channel guide.

Re: Can I manually tune in a digital channel?

Which HD Tuner are you using?

Does it make a difference if you tune from an analog channel to the digital channel, or tune from another digital channel to the problematic digital channel. I remember seeing some older sets of drivers for some cards not properly switching from analog to digital mode.

There are four ways of tuning.
1) Setup Wizard - works
2) Watching live tv, and tuning manually - works
3) Scheduler - doesn't work
4) Scroll to a channel in the program guide and select watch this channel - ???

Does #4 work?

Other than that, I do not know how to override the channel settings. Since it can tune, I doubt the settings are wrong. So the problem must be caused by some difference in tuning by the scheduler versus tuning directly.

I don't watch analog channels. They are all digital. I'm using FusionHDTV 5.

#4 doesn't work.

I think there's some bug with BTV tuning algorithm.

Re: Can I manually tune in a digital channel?

So 1 and 2 work for you but 3 and 4 do not, correct?

Also, when it does not work can you describe what you see?

Finally, which tuner card are you using?
