DSS Serial Tuner not tuning

Got the serial cable and connected to low speed data port on DirecTV receiver. Downloaded the available DSS.DLL and placed in the \Tuner subdirectory. Chose DSS Serial Tuning in the tuning settings. However, SnapStream is not changing channels on the DirecTV receiver. Is there any way to verify that my receiver is controllable using this cable/dll combination?

I should note, everything else is otherwise working just fine. The only thing that's not is the ability to change channels on the receiver.

Also, using the DirecTV Serial Control Utility from http://www.pcmx.net/dtvcon/ I can control my receiver from my PC after making these setting changes:

1. Select RCA Remote from System Menu
2. Select New Command Set from System Menu

Do I need an updated DSS.DLL to use the "New Command Set"?

Had same prob moved to IRBLASTER

I had similar frustrations but running a DirecTV + Tivo (Sony SAT-T60). I had everything connected using a jerry-rigged serial cable connected to my PC but couldn't get any response. One word of advice is that you should be able to connect to your DirecTV box separately from Snapstream using Hyperterminal or another terminal program, and get a prompt. If that works, then Snapstream should work.

Anybody with insight on how to get the serial connection to work would be appreciated. I don't like the unreliability of the Actisys IR blaster.

Is the source for DSS.DLL available anywhere? If need be, I'll update it myself with the newer codes.
