Re: Heroes

I liked this last episode 12/4. I'm thinking that it is the cheerleaders dad who has the power to block other powers and the Haitian can only erase memories. Can't wait for the next episode in January.

Doubt it, dad wasn't there when they captured Sylar and the Haitian was at the police station to block...

Re: Heroes

Yes, I am sure that the Dad has no powers whatsoever, but has the cash/backing to run his little operation.

Agreed. But I don't think he has cash. The cash is coming from higher up. He is working for a corporation. either private or gov.

Re: Heroes

I also believe it's the Haitian who's blocking powers. After Claire's intergation, they showed him standing just out of sight around the corner as if to say he was the reason why her mind couldn't be read.

It also explains why his mind couldn't be read at the bar.

Re: Heroes

Why was the nurse coughing? He didn't fully heal? Because Clare's powers was being blocked?

MAYBE, but I think he was just having a vision. If he does explode, because Nuclear man is nearby.

I'm wondering if that is coming from the same mafia connections that are involved with other characters. Obviously Sylar can't die yet for plot reasons but I think dad Bennet would have tried to kill him if it weren't for higher ups.

Re: Heroes

It has to be "the government" or a secret department/group/sect inside "the government". It always is! American TV and movie are so formulaic that they probably haven't come up with anything more creative than that.

"Formulaic"...I assume you meant that in the non-Gerber Foods context.

Perhaps, but I find the series so far to be bucking the norm in a pleasing manner. Tho' I must admit disappointment with how conveniently Niki overcame Jessica when she hurt Micah in the finale. Yeah right...shooting (with intent to kill) the man she loves (and Micah's father), and trying to do so again in front of Micah, wasn't enough to give her the strength to put Jessica in her place.

actually i was expecting that from the beginning of that scene since her rampage is directed at her ex. when her son was injured(who she rationalized as protecting) this broke the illusion that what she was doing was right. so niki was able to reassert herself.

I think we all were, which was being a little too predictable in my book. But no series is perfect I guess...even the "Lost" fans bitch once in awhile.

Re: Heroes

Heroes analysis:

Overall flow:
I have to say that I like Heroes, but the episodes move way too slow. It feels like nothing or very little gets accomplished in each episode.

Originality:
I also think that it is a bit of a rip-off of USA's "The 4400". The 4400 is a much better program than "Heroes" in almost every way. Some may argue that it is not similar, but I feel that it is. I find it hard to believe that "Heroes" would have sparked much prime time interest without the success of the "X-Men" movies and "The 4400" series.

The Jumpy Plots:
Heroes would be a better show if they stuck to one thing at a time. Explain a little bit more about how these people got their powers rather than throwing them out there to save the world all at once. I know that they plan on eventually revealing how each of them got their powers, but they are doing it all wrong. They have built up a big events with "Save the Cheerleader" and "The Bomb in NYC", but right when everyone is focused and curious about the event, then they throw in a BS episode which goes into how they got to where they are, but not really giving you their full background or details. I think it slows the whole series down. So then you become interested in the characters background and in the next episode they switch back to the big event. It doesn't keep me fully interested in either, but its better than watching anything else which is on TV.

Final Note:
By the way, they built up that "Save the Cheerleader" episode for weeks...and it was completely predictable. Who writes the storylines, 5 year olds? Come on, throw a little twist in there. I'm just glad the commercial for that episode is not airing anymore.

While I like the 4400, it is not better than Heroes. Heroes is more fun and really not that similar except for the "we are special" factor. The 4400 is running out of steam in my opinion. We'll be watching both Heroes and 4400 shows when they are on though.
