Fast forward sometimes skips to the end

Sometimes I'm watching a recorded show that hasn't yet been run through smartskip generation and I try to fast forward it skips straight to the end of the show. When this happens I have to go back to the beginning and fast forward to where I was before. Sometimes this will happen over and over. VERY FRUSTRATING!

This has happened when I was using the remote and when pressing the right arrow on the keyboard.

I tried searching the forums but wasn't able to find any mention of this happening to anyone else.

I have the same problem. And the longer my system is up, the worse it gets.
After about 3 days, viewscape also starts to act weird. it starts to scroll sideways and never stops. Then i have to reboot and everything is ok.
Most of our hardware is different - I have a ATI. Just curious - is your system dualcore ?

I've seen this before on my system but no longer have that issue. The way I solved it was to set up a regular defrag of the drive where I record shows. When I say regular, I mean pretty often (weekly at least) if you record and delete very many shows.

This has really been annoying me lately. For some reason the M*A*S*H marathon didn't get commercials and I was just gonna fast forward through them, but it seems every other time I try to fast forward it jumps directly to the end of the recording and I loose my place. It's almost not worth using BTV for playback with all the headaches this causes.

Not that it solves your problem, but have you tried using jump ahead and back instead of Fast forward. I never use fast forward, so I guess that's why I have never seen the problem.
