Skip backwards (6 seconds) rarely works right.

I can skip forward 30 seconds no problem. But if I hit the backward skip, the timer goes back 6 seconds then immediately goes back to one second past where it started. Even if I click it a few times. Basically it doesn't work at all. This has always been troublesome, even with previous versions, but it would sometimes work... now with BTV 4.4 it never works.

Does it work for anyone else? For HD?

I have seen this as well, and I would concur that it happens more routinely on 4.4 than on previous 4.x releases. Very annoying when you slightly overshoot the commercial break, then hit the backward skip and end up slightly ahead of where you started! Definitely not good for the WAF, either...

Re: Skip backwards (6 seconds) rarely works right.

I have seen this since 4.0 came out, for me it only does this while watching live TV. The way I addressed the problem is to set Reaction Delay Compensation to 0. That seems to work for me more or less.

Update
I just checked my 4.4 machine and the above fix does not work, I haven't tried changing the skip back value though.

Re: Skip backwards (6 seconds) rarely works right.

I haven't actually tried it on recorded programs, so yeah I was referring to live tv, or more specifically after live tv has been paused then later resumed.

Re: Skip backwards (6 seconds) rarely works right.

I had this problem real bad with BTV4.0 and had to double my skip back time to 14 sec to get a net of 7 sec.

It seemed to always jump forward by 7 sec.

I wonder if BTV could be using the "Seek Auto-Compensation" (which by default is 7 sec) for the skip back.
You might try to change it and test.

I only see this occasionally now and I usually just hit the back button multiple times in rapid succession.

Mike

Re: Skip backwards (6 seconds) rarely works right.

Thanks fmharr. I changed the skip back time to 14 seconds and it now does indeed work to skip back 7 seconds. Seems like a bug snapstream should be made aware of, probably an easy fix.

They are aware of it (I submitted a bug report along time ago).

I guess that it is not a serious enough bug to make it onto their radar.

I cleared it up on my system by chaning my decoder to the nVidia PureVideo decoder.
Since then, I have updated to a bigger/Bader video card (6800GS) and found that I can't use the nvidia decoder anymore (crash's). But I am not having the back/forward skipping problem anymore.
