IR Blaster RCA DRD435RH

I've searched for an hour and tried numerous things, still no go. Can't get BTV 4.4 to change the channel on my directv DRD435RH via PVR 150 IR blaster. When I press the channel button on the remote while in BTV Live TV, the ir transmitter does not flash its LED. BTV changes channel on-screen, but it does not send the command to the IR blaster.

Advanced settings-->Audio/Video connections shows "Hauppauge IR blaster" in External Tuner.

The IR config works (I can turn the DRD435RH on and off and send channel changes). Transmitter flashes.

The Hauppauge remote works (I can control volume, menus, etc in BTV).

I'm considering making a serial cable, but I've read some problems with those also.

I've installed all the latest software from Hauppauge.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, can you launch BTV using the TV button on the Hauppauge remote? Doesn't work on mine. Thanks.

Did a little more experimentation:

Seems BTV can switch channels on the DTV box using the EPG, but not via the channel buttons on the Hauppauge remote.

So it might be a remote problem. Also, after 30 minutes of use, the Hauppage IR takes a dump and the remote stops working, can't do anything. IR config says "Can't find IR hardware."

Crappy remote/IR software from Hauppauge? Is Firefly any better?

OK, I found the thread on editing irremote.ini. TV button on Hauppauge remote now opens BTV. Good.

Still have not resolved issue with IR Blaster (works in all operations except channel up/down buttons).

Went ahead and purchased the BTV/free Firefly bundle. But until it gets here, still would like channel up/down to fire IR Blaster.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Figured it out. It's the latency setting in BTV. You can set it to a time interval or "Wait for user enter." It was set to the latter, it never received an enter, so it never changed the channel.

Did you download updated IR drivers from the Hauppauge site? A lot of people had the same issue using the drivers that come with the card.

Yes, seems to work OK, but a bit flakey. I ordered a Firefly, hope it's a bit more stable.
