Question Tuner Hardware Recommendation?

I have an ATI TV Wonder currently and the quality with Snapstream is OK, but was wondering if there are any tuners out there with better picture quality. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Thanks. Scott.

What quality are you actually recording at (if you are referring to the quality of SnapStream recordings)? You can increase the quality of your recording by either using a higher quality profile already implemented in SnapStream or creating your own. Depending upon whether you are using an antenna vs. cable signal will also make a difference, as will the quality if your reception.

You may want to read this Tom's Hardware article from a few months back; it might help you get a better idea of what you're looking for. http://www4.tomshardware.com/video/0...418/index.html

I've talked with a few people here (testers) that work with various cards directly very frequently. They actually report getting the best quality from ATI cards; however, they tend to have the most problems with SnapStream.

Additionally, some cards don't support 640x480 resolution, which requires a powerful CPU to capture/encode with but will result in very high quality in conjunction with better quality settings in SnapStream.

The quality Snapstream records at is very good (I'm using near DVD most of the time), but even watching TV through the ATI MMC still looks a little grainy.

I read the article and it seems that they think the quality from most cards is basically the same. Have most people found this to be true? I'm just wondering if I should replace my little TV Wonder with something fancier to get a better picture.

Thanks for the help.
