Horrible Windows XP image Quality on 51 inch Rear Projection Television

I am still working out the quirks with the audio and video aspects of BeyondTV, but my issue is that the windows XP environment on my Hitachi 51 inch rear projection television (51s700) is horrible. I can barely read any of the icons or read any text in the file management system.

Beyond TV looks fair, but not even close to as good as it looks on my 17inch lcd or my 19 inch crt.

Any ideas. I have already tinkered with the resolution settings with no real differences. I could not see ever being able to use the tv as a computer. I would not be able to even surve the web because the tect looks so poor.

What do I need to do.

Re: Horrible Windows XP image Quality on 51 inche Rear Projection Television

How are you connecting from the PC to the TV? Do you know the native resolution of the TV?

Re: Horrible Windows XP image Quality on 51 inch Rear Projection Television

I am using an Audioquest DVI Cable. I paid a fortune for it so i hope it is good. According to the Hitachi website the television has a 1280 horizontal resolution. What do I do with that info

Re: Horrible Windows XP image Quality on 51 inch Rear Projection Television

I'd say set your PC resolution to 1280 x 1024. That should be matching your output to the TV's native resolution. That should give you the best picture. Granted there might be some overscan issues but in BTV you can adjust the Video display size to bring it all back into the viewable area. Is this a HDTV?

Re: Horrible Windows XP image Quality on 51 inch Rear Projection Television

When you say you cannot read the text is it too small, too fuzzy? If so you can try to increase the font size. I know on a PC I have connected to a SDTV via Svideo after I changed the background to black things cleared up for me text wise.

It is very small and fuzzy. That's a good idea. I'll try to increase the font size in XP.

On a 50 inches HDTV at 1808x1008 resolution or such, I use a 200% font and that's a good size at 10 feet...

Re: Horrible Windows XP image Quality on 51 inch Rear Projection Television

I tried every possible setting and have realized that my Hitachi 51s700 will only allow me to set a resolution at 720 (approximately 1280 x 768). When I set the resolution to 1080 BTV freezes whenever I exit from a video (live or recorded).

No matter what I do the XP environment is horrible compared to any LCD monitor or CRT.
