Time-based show expiration
I have not been able to find this in btv4, or locate anything by searching the forum, so let me know if I am missing something obvious...
I record a lot of news programs each day as I do not make it home in time to watch. However, some days I just don't watch, and am not likely to check back on them the following day. It would be nice to have an option to record for example all 6:00 news and have the files be automatically deleted after two days have passed. Very useful for high-volume recordings which clutter your recorded shows list. Also, would be nice to have a way to bulk-delete shows instead of the multiple screens and menus you must go through to get rid of your shows. Just a thought. Todd |

Re: Time-based show expiration
BTV will only delete shows as space is needed. As far as a way to delete many shows in one fell swoop the easiest way to do that is via the web admin. You can see all of your recordings on one page check the ones you want to delete and then click the delete button. That way you don't have to go into each recording, delete it, confirm the deletion and repeat.

Re: Time-based show expiration
You can setup an individual recording job to keep only X number of episodes on disk (recording settings->settings and priorities->view adn edit details->keep number)

But as far as I can tell that number is a minimum, not a maximum. So if you have the disk space it will keep them until it has to make room. Did I miss something?

Re: Time-based show expiration
the Keep episodes feature works Very well -- I limit 70% of my recordings with that feature -- and works out very well. I record the news every night -- and set it to keep 1 episode -- so I only have the "fresh" news available every day.
I do the same for a show my daughter watches in the AM -- so only one show exists at any one time.
