Audio out of sync when using Overlay playback mode

My audio stream is perfect when using 3D Accelerated mode, but when using Overlay mode (to play action movies and sports better - without the interlacing issues) the audio is immediately out-of-sync by a split second or so (not terrible, but annoying). I'm running with the following hardware:

Athlon XP 3000+ (1.9GHz)
Hauppauge 500MCE Dual-Tuner Card (last slot, not next to AGP)
512MB Memory (PC2700)
Radeon 9600TX 128MB Video Card
Turtle Beach Catalina sound card (using optical out)
SATA150 120GB Hard Drive

I'm not using the slot next to my AGP card at all as I have a slot fan there for the heat from the video card. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. My video is OK in 3D Accelerated mode, but the quality is better using Overlay mode (not as choppy) and if I could just get the audio to sync, I'd be in business.
