I am using the latest version. I believe it is 1.11.83. SD is the subchannel of the HD stream being recorded. Each channel has several subchannels, ie multiple streams, that are recorded. Selecting the SD stream is the equivalent of selecting the PID within Autogk.

No output file is created by doing a commercial scan, nor does it remember the selections if you exit and reopen the same file. Otherwise you are performing the correct steps. you could also select the SD first but that does not impact performance that I have encountered.

HD CUTCOMMERCIALS BETA

To cut commercials from HD recordings, add BTV Recording folder to CutCommercials folder list. SmartChapters is NOT required for HD recordings, it is a waste of BTV and CPU resourses. All HD recordings are processed by TpRepair, then if the originating recording folder is in CutCommercials, the "fixed" recording is processed by Tp2MPG and a scan at "10s" is done, and a mpg, commercial free recording is created. Here is the results and my own comments, of my tests. The two test cases were provided by "ColdBrew" . Without these test recordings, this project could not have been possible. Thanks, "ColdBrew"!
The encoding time was based upon times from AutoXvid log. Since my "normal" recordings were also occuring and being encoded, the times do NOT reflect a simple start to end time, but only actual time that each recording was being processed.
My testing was all done using Quality 75%.

Grey's Anatomy-(Break on Through)-2006-01-29-0.tp
Encode time: 6hrs. 30 min. (actual throughput time was 9.5 hrs)
Size: 8.12GB to 1.34GB

Freddie-(The Mixer)-2006-02-01-0.tp
Encode time: 2hrs. 00 min. (actual throughput time was 8 hrs)
Size: 4.33GB to 797MB

Both programs had commercials completely removed. Results were excellent! Flawless video and sound. Video and sound remained insync. During playback of Grey's Anatomy, at the last commercial cut point, a POP and Beyond TV quit playing sound! I paused playback, moved play pointer back to just beyond where the POP had occured, hit play, and sound played again. Overall, I was very pleased. The commercials were completely removed, leaving just a black momentary screen followed by a scene change. The _cut.mpg produced by HDTVtoMPEG2 could NOT be played by BeYond TV, but Windows Media Player had no problem playing the _cut.mpg, and BTV and WMP had no problem playing the Xvid (_cut.avi).
Note: Adds two new AutoXvid.ini [AutoXvid] parameters:
CutHDto= tp/mpg
Specify what type output you want for the _cut recording tp or mpg, defaults to tp
and
SeriesCutExclude= Sopranos, Freddie, King of Queens, hatchett, my name is
In this Example, 'The Sopranos', 'Freddie', 'The King of Queens', 'Judge Hatchett',

and 'My Name Is Earl' would all be excluded from the cut process.
KeyWords seperated by a comma. No Quotes, Commas, Period, or Colon allowed
Case doesn't matter.


IMPORTANT even if you have installed previous version of this Beta you MUST install this version. It replaces prior versions of both utilities HDTVtoMPEG2 and mpeg2repair.
The Beta.zip contains (all files should be placed in your AutoXvid Install dir)

Thanks Lee! I'll try to get this installed tonight before shows start recording. AutoXvid is still running because it tried to encode the Grammy's from last night. I can't even imagine how long it would take to encode 3.5 hours of 1080i video...

Lee, I did not have any successful HD encodings last night. I woke up to a message of "Please check a Channel to Process!" with a title of "Warning!" and an "OK" button. I'm not sure what program did that... I hit OK but that didn't really seem to affect anything other than the message window...

Here is the log from last night with information about the two HD encodings. Both video's were 30 minutes long from NBC which broadcast in 1080i. The two programs are "Four Kings-(Follow the Money)-2006-02-09-0.tp" and "My Name Is Earl-(The Professor)-2006-02-09-0.tp". Also I noticed both files have a _cut.xml file. EDIT: I found copies of both TP files in C:\.

Even though the message was there, AutoGK was encoding SD video's with no problem and is still going this morning...

Well I can see that MPG2Repair failed om "Four Kings" (don't know why).
More important, HDTVtoMPEG2 is still running. I "Hide" it's GUI, after I have selected the channel and filled in other fields. My application can't "see" if the info is filled in or not. I must have selected channel before HDTVtoMPEG2 was ready for it, so HDTV2MPEG is still waiting! Use TaskManager (if HDTVtoMPEG2 isn't in tray) and kill it as well as Tp2MPG. 1) I need to NOT hide GUI at least until I am mor confident about it. 2) delay longer before trying to select channel.

Okay I killed HDTV2MPEG.

Yes, unless you want to manually try it. There should be C:\My Name Is Earl-(The Professor)-2006-02-09-0.tp it is a "fixed" version.
Open HDTVtoMPEG2.exe Click on ADD and select C:\My Name Is Earl-(The Professor)-2006-02-09-0.tp , after it loads, under channel there should only be a single choice, select it, Select 10s, Then Click "Commercial Scan", after the Progress bar disappears, Click on "Process", after this progress bar dissapears you should have a C:\My Name Is Earl-(The Professor)-2006-02-09-0_cut.mpg, Exit HDTVtoMPEG2.exe, Delete C:\My Name Is Earl-(The Professor)-2006-02-09-0.tp
then drag/drop C:\My Name Is Earl-(The Professor)-2006-02-09-0_cut.mpg to AutoXvid desktop shortcut. AutoXvid should then encode a commercial free version of My Name Is Earl.

Well from my experience from Divx and Xvid encoding is that if you change resolutions it's gonna take longer and the more you compress it the longer it's gonna take. And encoding is a slow process anyway so you have to decide what's a fair trade off for you. If you find settings you like that encode fast for you that's great but it's usually trial and error. Myself I use a fixed horizontal resolution that matches the horizontal resolution I record my mpegs at. That way if a show is in wide screen format it will cut off the black bars at the top and bottom cause it takes alot more time to encode the black bars than it does if autogk crops them out. And resizing a video makes a smaller file but takes longer so I just don't do it. But it really is personal preference.

Here is everything from the log file that mentions the tp file.

Did you happen to restore mpeg2repair? If so was "Repair Errors" checked? If so, was "Start" button visible? Trying to determine what I am failing to get clicked.... I feel like I m going backwards here. Oviouslly I am having a timing problem. I need to find a way of ensuring that everything is done before I start waiting on the "status" message.
