Hauppage WinTV-USB (No Audio)

I finally gave up on the prior TV tuner card I had and went with the WinTV-USB that Snapstream shows as one they have tested.

The problem is - WinTV (USB) cuts out the audio when another application tries to access it (DirectShow, Windows Media Encoder 7). The audio works fine when I use their own software to watch TV and even to record it from their interface - but when using SNAPSTREAM or Windows Media Encoder it only will record the video.

If I can get this resolved I would be thrilled. Everything else seems to be working (Changes channels, records on schedule, etc.).

- I am running Windows 98
- I have installed DirectX 8
- I have downloaded the latest USB drivers from Hauppage
- I have downloaded the latest Snapstream version.

Please help! This is my 2nd TV Tuner I have purchased to get this working but keep having the same problems (audio).

I am having the exact same problem with this program. The WinTV USB works fine and delivers audio when I use the Hauppauge softwhere, but whenever I record something with the snapstream PVS, I get no audio.

I've got the same exact problem. I think it's because Snapstream only has an option to record from the Wave In. Mine doesn't have the option to record from Line-in. Another problem I have is that a recording doesn't show up in the Watch list until I restart Snapstream. Otherwise the video I did record was very smooth, but without audio.

I finally figured out the problem with no sound, which may also apply to others.
Double click on your volume control icon.
go to options, properties
Mixer device [choose your sound card]
select the radio button for recording
click ok
this will bring up the window that shows what source your sound card is using. If you are not getting sound with your recordings, I bet this is box has the microphone in selected. Change this by selecting line in.

Then you will get audio with your recordings! (At least that fixed it for me, when snapstream was unable to locate the problem.)
