Unable to start Live TV

Sorry for posting twice. I think I accidetnally posted in the wrong forum the 1st time

Hi,

I just purchased beyond tv today. I downloaded and installed BTV_V352.exe (the latest version as of today) and went through the setup options but I am unable to start live TV. I have a Radeon AIW 9800 PRO, Catalyst 5.3 with latest WDM and dao as well as the media encoder 9 and directx 9c. I was also using ATIs MMC 9.06 and but the guide really sucked.

Anyway, after installing Beyond TV I got the error unable to start Live TV. I went back through the set up and there is only one video device for my to choose.. my Rage Theater chip. I went through the set up again and still the same problem. So I thought there was some conflict with MMC. I tried uninstalling MMC then rebooted. Same thing. I backed up, formated and reloaded Windows XP slipstreamed with service pack 2, Installed CAT 5.2 drivers with WDM, direct x9c and then installed Beyond tv. Same problem. I then installed the Windows media encoder (which is needed for the latest verison of MMC, and the DAO.. )same problem Unable to start Live TV.

Any Ideas?p4 2.8ghz 800mhz fsb 512mb of ram.

Re: Unable to start Live TV

Have you tried the Microsoft WDM drivers, which XP loads on install? Back when I had an AIW, XP used to install it's own WDM drivers for the AIW, which worked fine with MMC. I just wonder if those WDMs are just too new for BTV?

Re: Unable to start Live TV

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. No I never tried the default WDM drivers. I am not sure how to remove the WDM drivers since they seem to install automatically with the new CAT 5.2 drivers. I am going to try and older driver/WDM and see what happens

Re: Unable to start Live TV

Thanks you were right. It was the latest ATI WDM causing the problem. I installed the previous CAT/WDM and it is working fine.

Sweet... now if only there was a way to install the ATI Remote wonder drivers without having MMC installed.

Re: Unable to start Live TV

I had the same problem need to use CAT 5.2 and thus MMC 9.03.

Good news! Are you having trouble installing the RW drivers? I'm using an RW and haven't had an AIW or MMC installed for ages.

This is how I do it: First, unplug the RW from the USB port. Install the RW 2.5 drivers, and when prompted, reboot. After XP is done loading, and you are back at the desktop, bring up the task manager, and manually kill the ATIRW.exe process. Then, plug the RW back into the USB port, and you should see an icon and balloon in the systray, indicating that Windows has found new hardware, (blah blah blah). The RW systray applet should then load up, and you should be ready to go.
