re: [plugin] DVD Library (Sept 7 Update)
That's what I got from the mail. I'm thinking a URL to a media database has changed. Just wish I hadn't cleaned out my library before tying the scan.
Oh well. ***** "It'll be Sunday night at the earliest, more than likely early next week, before I can get to it. But I will get to fixing it." |

re: [plugin] DVD Library (Sept 7 Update)
Hmm.. I wonder if a little P2P action for all DVD Library users is in order?

re: [plugin] DVD Library (Sept 7 Update)
Maybe there should be an option to add the movie on timeout with the directory name. Then DVD library could add info and coverart the next scan if the timeout doesn't happen. This would allow us to add movies when imdb makes changes. Just a thought.

re: [plugin] DVD Library (Sept 7 Update)
Hmm, guess I would vote for two things first, a field(s) to input URL/RSS or what ever is used, and Maybe offer the source to one or two others so we could help with changes.
My fear is that this plug-in will be forgotten about due to the developer not being able to keep up with it or other circumstance that are out of his control. This has happened with so many other great apps. Just for the record I would pay for this app and I don't pay for much when it comes to software

re: [plugin] DVD Library (Sept 7 Update)
You can add movies after a time out. You're on your own to enter the information though. I think it's the option called something like "User Assist" or something like that.

re: [plugin] DVD Library (Sept 7 Update)
Agreed. This really sucks when you have a ton of movies to add in bulk.

re: [plugin] DVD Library (Sept 7 Update)
Going through a last testing pass on a fixed version right now. If everything is cool, it will be up tonight. If there's an issue it'll be sometime Monday or Tuesday.

re: [plugin] DVD Library (Sept 7 Update)
I do things a little different here. Frankly I don't want to have to fool around with my dedicated home theater PC to do any maintenance and such with my DVD library.
Long ago I bought the paid version of DVD Profiler. And it is installed on my day to day computer. I do all my work at that computer. Bill paying, email and everything. When I get a new disk, everything is done right there on that office computer where my DVD Profiler is installed. Otherwise, I have to walk into the Home Theater, Power on the Projector, and hook up a usb mouse and keyboard, and load the dvd, yada yada. My home theater is really not set up for day to day programs other than home "theater" stuff. Everything is run with one remote. So instead, I just load the dvd into my main "office" computer or enter the UPC code, or title, so that all the data base operations are quick and easy, without having to putz with the HTPC. Having the paid version also gives you all the artwork in high resolution. In DVD Profiler there is an option to "Export Profiler Database". It only takes a couple seconds to use that which writes the *.xml file across my LAN to the proper place on the HTPC. No need to do any work on the HTPC itself The actual original data resides on my "other" pc where it is much easier to maintain. Having the original data on my other PC is good for restoring a corrupt or problematic database on the HTPC. Think automatic back up. The DVD Profiler "export function" works fine across a LAN. And I never have to access the home theater ... If the data has changed, I do a 15 second export to the HTPC. How can it be safer, easier, etc? The cost of the DVD Profiler was a very small investment (back before invelos took it over) And it works fine with the DVD Library plugin in Beyond Media. It's a $29.95 one time investment that comes with lifetime free upgrades.
