I don't have BTV showsqeeze automatically so last week I told it to ShowSqueeze ER and delete the source file. The next day I checked my show list and ER was gone. I looked in the showsqeeze log and it said the Move failed.
I checked in the shows folder and surprise surprise there was a file named areallylongnameofrandomenumbersandletters.deleteme .tmp. I renamed it to ER.WMV. It has a LOT of trouble playing in BTV. BTV will stop and start, if I skip 30 seconds it won't start playing again. I have to pause and restart it to get it to play and often it will freeze up again. Interestingly enough the wmv plays fine in Windows Media Player so I didn't totally lose the show. Any idea why the move would fail and BTV would delete the source file anyway? That's pretty freaky . I'm just glad the WMV was still sitting in the folder and I knew what to do with a tmp file. For a long time I didn't let ShowSqueeze auto delete the source file because I didn't trust it. Now that I've started to trust it I almost lost ER. I guess I'll go back to not trusting it.

Re: ShowSqeeze deleted my MPEG but didn't move the WMV!
Just yesterday I noticed the same problem. ShowSqueeze was showing errors under a bunch of recordings that it could not move the wmv to the 'e:\recordings\movies' directory. It didn't give any more info than that.
Unfortunately, I hadn't checked the ShowSqueeze work list at the time and was just looking around in the recording directories and saw a bunch of those ...deleteme.tmp files. I've had troubles in the past with BTV not cleaning up after itself, so I didn't think anything about deleting them. Of course, they were a bunch of recordings that SS could not move. So with a few button strokes, I had wiped out about 5 days of recordings, some of which will never be on again. (Just an observation... has anyone noticed that there aren't any angry or dismayed 'smilies' visible on the smilies list? Maybe Snapstream doesn't want people to easily be able to show that they are angry or disappoint in their comments.... just makes you think.) (hmmmm) Anyways... I finally tracked my problem down to a 'missing' folder. About 10 days ago, I had installed 2 new 250gb SATA drives and reorganized my 'movie' directory. (I keep all my shows in categorized directories according to the type of show it is, for example: Movies, Anime, Kids, Adult , and so on. Anyways, the largest folder, the Movie folder, I decided to put on it's own drive to give it enough room to keep on growing. I went into the web gui and created the new folder. I moved all the present stuff into it and closed things up and went on with other business. Well, to make the story short (I know... way too late for that).... for some strange reason <cough> bug <cough> movies that had been recorded before I did the folder move and that hadn't been recompressed/converted had kept the old location of the movie folder as their final destination and since it wasn't there, it errored out and went on with other recordings. Any new movie that came through got transferred just fine. What I don't get is why BTV, on an occurrence like not being able to move a file, wouldn't pop up an alert. I would consider that an urgent problem. Especially since it deletes the original file before the converted file has gone though all of is steps of completion. Seems to me that the original should be precious cargo until BTV knows the copy is OK and in its final location. Loosing recordings should be a pretty damn important alert... to me, there should be bells and whistles going off all over until it is fixed. To even go one further, SS should stop doing any more conversions until the problem is fixed.... but that's just me.
