The importer isn't looking for the install folder it is looking for the configuration folder (or at least that is what the dialog box says) the install folder and configuration folder are different:

Configuration folder is as above
Install folder is:

C:\Program Files (x86)\SnapStream Media\Beyond TV

Where do you have BTV Importer pointing to in your Vista configuration? Since it is working for you, if I use the same folder it should work for me.

I actually get the same error whether I use the Install Folder or the Configuration Folder.

The video is about 6m24s long but nothing happens after 26 seconds - the mouse just stays in the bottom right corner.

This still isn't working for me. I use XMLTV GUI to build the epg data (and I have checked the output xml file and all the data is there). I then point BTV XMLTV Import "XMLTV Source" to my epg data file (in my case called data.xml) set the BeyondTV Directory and then click on Import (standard BTV XMLTV Import not the wizard). The import works fine and grabs all the data from the epg file but as soon as it tries to update BeyondTV I get the same unable to connect error every single time.

It simply is not working, there is something wrong and the wrong is not anything I am doing.

I am also very disappointed that BeyondTV staff have not made any attempt to look at this thread - if they want me to buy the software surely it makes sense that they try and establish what the error is?

I just don't see the point in continuing with this anymore, I am wasting my time doing the same thing over and over and over again to get the same error over and over and over again.

I am not prepared to pay $99 for this - everything works fine in MythTV including xmltv and my dusky controller, I should have just stuck with MythTV in the first place.

I do, however, thank you for your time in trying to troubleshoot this with me - if only BTV staff paid the same amount of attention to potential customers.

OK I have found the error log for BTV XMLTV Importer and it is a problem with SOAP it seems:

Error occured when connecting to BTV API. System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it ::1:8129 at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.DoConnect(EndPoint endPointSnapshot, SocketAddress socketAddress) at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.InternalConnect(EndPoint remoteEP) at System.Net.ServicePoint.ConnectSocketInternal(Bool ean connectFailure, Socket s4, Socket s6, Socket& socket, IPAddress& address, ConnectSocketState state, IAsyncResult asyncResult, Int32 timeout, Exception& exception) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetRequestStream() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtoc ol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters) at BTVXMLTVImport.BTVLicenseManager.BTVLicenseManager .Logon(String networkLicense, String username, String password) at BTVXMLTVImport.BTVAPI2.Connect()

I am not running a firewall in Windows so I don't think it is that (my router is my firewall).

At least I know what is causing the error now and it is not BTV XMLTV Importer it is BTV itself.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Paladine

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Well BTV Support are just damn useless - this was the email response I got:

click on Start and in the Start Search field, type in netstat -a and then locate port 8129 and see whether it is listening. The error you are getting is due to the Web Admin not running on port 8129.

MY reply is - it damn well is running on port 8129 because that is the port I access the Web Admin on in my browser. They clearly don't want my money for their overpriced POS software so I am going back to MythTV where everything works and it is free.

If that is SnapStream's idea of what defines Support I am glad I found out before I handed over my money to them.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

why are you even writing technical support? it's a community created add-on so it isn't supported by them. your also running 64-bit vista, not supported either, so bitching at them is not gonna help, i'm surprised they answered you at all....

from what i can tell with that error, u can't connect to the web admin, his reasoning for asking you to run netstat was to see if the port is actually working properly and listening. Did you tell him that the Web Admin was working before hand? I'm assuming not since he asked you to do that.

good luck on your issue, but don't bitch at people when your trying to do something that your not sure what your doing. Tech Support offered you a suggestion, more then some companies that would have told you straight up, not support... adios.
