question will btv work alongside xp media center ed

This is similiar to a question in the beta section , but not everyone has access to that.

I'm starting this thread because I think I'm getting a little paranoid, I have a new xp mce (microsoft media center) 2004 notebook and have been using btv for some time. It used to be called pvs and before that something else.

I like certain aspects of both products. The thing about mce is , its easy to break, I've already had to do one full restore after a failed attempt to replace my tv tuner with a wintv usb2.

So, my question is, has anyone installed btv on a windows mce 2004 system and did it break anything.

This also would be a good thread to document any other software that conflicts with btv or has a conflict with.

You realize you can always uninstall the MCE component if you worried about it breaking stuff?

If your woried about breaking mce, then I guess that means your using MCE, which leaves me a little confused. Why would you want to run BTV at the same time?

BTV has some nice features mce doesn't, multiple tuners for instance, less dmr.

MCE, has a nice interface, good scheduling etc....

On my other pc I run both sage tv and btv... don't see what the big deal is. It's a matter of preference.

I'm I to take it no one is running btv on an mce machine?

Yeah, I have ran BTV on a MCE machine as well. I just never used MCE. I am not sure why/how you can use more than one PVR at a time though.

I guess you could assign different tuners to different PVRs. But the mere fact that BTV is on your MCE machine should cause no conflicts as long as they are not trying to access the tuner at the same time.
