ATI TV Wonder support
When recording with snapstream, it records video but not audio. Apparently this has something to do with the drivers, as no 3rd party capture software can initialize the audio on this card.
I was looking at some old usenet posts over at deja.com where people have talked about this. One way to get around it with WinVCR is to load the ATI TV player, and then load WinVCR to record. The ATI software will initialize the audio, and WinVCR will take over the video allowing you to record with sound. I tried this with a trial copy of WinVCR, and it works. Obviously the above solution isn't an option for slipstream, but is there anyway to code support for the audio on the ATI TV Wonder? The ATI software must initialize the audio in some way that's different from other brooktree cards. |

I tried your suggestion with WinVCR and it worked very well initially. It also worked quite nicely with Snapstream!! I then discovered that after playing a recording, any attempt at recording something new automatically set the recording volume slider down to zero. I am now recording consistently by making sure that volume slide is UP. This explains my previous inconsistency in getting Snapstream to work properly (with audio). My ATI TV Wonder card is not recognized in autodetect and I have to choose the ATI All in Wonder family. Can this be addressed, as well as the recording volume proplem, in the next release?

I also can't get sound when playing back using an ATI All-In-Wonder Pro card, but I own a PCI card instead of AGP, so WINVCR is not available on my system. Hence, the above workaround does not work. An update that addresses this problem would be most appreciated.

An update to the my post above, I was able to get sound playback to work with an ATI All-In-Wonder card using Media Player 7 and Windows ME, I did the following:
I double clicked the volume control icon to get the full controls screen, clicked options, then clicked properties in the options submenu, clicked the recording volume radio button, clicked select under the volume slider for line-in, adjusted the volume, then KEPT this open while I recorded. Before, I was closing it, at that point it would changeto another selection for recording and it reset the volume slider for line-in to the bottom of the scale. I assume that is why it wasn't working before. This is obviously still a workaround, but it worked for me. |

I can not get the ATI-TV Wonder card to capture sound either. If it's listed as a supported card, then how was it tested?? What driver was used, I suspect is the answer. Snapstream will not work with the new 2.0 drivers, but neither will anything else, thank you ATI! The WDM drivers they supply to use with WebTV work with Snapstream, but with no Audio (audio works with WebTV), and other applications have the same problem. It appears the App must know how to initialize the sound. I don't have the 1.0 CD to try those drivers, but I suspect that we would have better luck with these, since I belive it has VFW Drivers. Could someone at Snapstream or someone that has it working with the ATI-TV Windor PCI please verify this? Please no comments about the All-in-Wonder they are not the same thing.

We've been testing with a TV-Wonder VE using (as suspected) the VFW drivers from the version 1 CD. I've contacted ATI to see if we can get the version 2 drivers so we can do some firsthand testing with them. WDM support is also making good progress in our in-house testing, so hopefully we'll have a release out with support for WDM drivers very, very soon. I'll post as soon as I hear anything from ATI or when I have any other relevant news. Thanks everyone,

Well, I stumbled on the fix for the XP vs. ATI TVWonder issues a few days ago and since then, ATI has posted it much more readily avilable:
http://www.ati.com/support/installat...tallwinxp.html Since my repair, SnapStream and my TV Tuner have been awesome! SnapStream's new software + WinXP is great! Well done SS team. This is MUCH better than the previous release. I LOVE the integration with the TV Guide type listing (one-click recording scheduling). KUDOS. |

Hi, I posted earlier about my recording playing back sluggish. I have tried all different quality settings and it never changes. I just tried it again and noticed that the playback is good for the first 3-4seconds then it starts getting jerkey. I don't think it has anything to do with the drive. It is a new 20gig ATA100 drive. Any thoughts?
