Post RJ11 or RJ6 Connector on cable pack?

I'm about to buy my fourth set of cables to attempt to control my Hughes Executive Director DirecTV box with SnapStream. I bought the IR cable and gave up. I've tried two sets of "homemade" DB9-RJ6 serial cables wired according to various diagrams with no luck.

I was about to break down and buy the RCA low speed data cable pack directly from SnapStream, but I noticed a discrepancy. The "make your own" diagram correctly points out that it requires an RJ6 "handset" connector rather than the more common RJ11 "line" connector. The connector on my box is definately the smaller RJ6 type. But on the Online Store page (http://shop.store.yahoo.com/snapstreammedia/rcadirbun.html) it says the cable is DB9 to RJ11!

Please, someone tell me the "RJ11" is a typo on the Store page so I can buy the cable and get on with my life!

It should be a typo. Look on my page and look that the cable diagram. The one on the snapstream page is still misleading. The DB9 side is the Wiring side of the contector and not the front side of it. Also the connector is a RJ6 which I correctly state on my page. You have a friend with a RCA Direct Tv? See if it works with his reciever and this app before you spend your money. http://www.pcmx.net/dtvcon/

I'm trying to make a cable for my 5th gen and 3rd gen RCA receiver. I'm having a little trouble following along here. Is there a more 'simple' schematic for a newbie here. I've looked at http://www.pcmx.net/dtvcon/ but I'm a bit confused with the RJ11 side of it... I think I've got the cable figured out for the 3rd gen RCA (just need to find a 15Pin connector)

I can tell you the 15 pin connector is probably a joystick connector. I haven't made one of these cables though.
