Which show will be recorded if both are at the same time?

Did a number of searches, and must not have the right keyword because I couldn't find the answer.

I have a show being recorded every night @ 10PM, but on Fridays I want a different show recorded @10pm, then back to the others.

Is there a way to rank the show you prefer to have recorded?

Cheers.

You should be able to set this up using the on screen guide.
1: Setup your Friday recording.
2: Setup the other recording. When this is setup you should get a conflict message and should be given the option to record only non-conflicting episodes.

You also asked about show rankings/recording priorities. There is a way to give a show a higher recording preference through the on screen interface. I haven't played with it in a while, and don't remember exactly where it is. I'm guessing somewhere in recording options. I'm not at home so I can't be more specific than that.

Hope this helps.

In the fullscreen main menu menu, you go to "Setup recordings", then into "Recording Settings and Priorities". In there you can prioritize your recordings. I haven't really experimented with it myself, but presumably, if you had a show that was on at 10pm Mon-Fri, but you had a show that only come on Fri at 10pm that you would prefer recorded, then you would just put the show that comes on at 10pm Fri at a higher priority, and it would get recorded.

Let us know if it works!

Heh, I hit post reply and was like: Damn! someone else already got it... but I guess we're using two different methods....

OK, i guess because I do most changes remotely I didn't see. I (remotely) deleted the multiple 10pm shows, then entered the Friday show, then went back and did the multiple shows again, and it works now.

Then I read your helpful posts! Thanks, if I had know you would be so helpful to fast I would have had a snack and waited for the answer

Now I have to get these long show squeeze times figured. A 1/2 show shouldnt take 6 hours to shrink with an AMD XP2100!

Choosing which show to record when given a conflict does NOT change the priority, Does IT? When recording all episodes of series 1, then record all episodes of series 2, if conflict occurs you choose which show to record for each conflict. If you choose series 2 over series one, it only gives series 2 priority over one for shows currently in the epg database. Series 1 will still have priority for every show after that. IE: when the guide updates and finds more shows.
Is this right?
