what's the algorithm for deleting shows when falling below min value for diskspace?

i've lost all of my old Invader Zim recordings. i think it's because i occasionaly dip below the min value of disk space and snapstream decides to do a little house cleaning. is snapstream supposed to do this? shouldn't it just refuse to record instead? (i am using & paid for the full version)

i'm pretty steamed that i've lost all back episodes of my favorite show, but i guess it might be my own fault for not paying attention to the min disk space value before.

so i upgraded to pvs 1.2 registered version last night, played around with the new settings to see what it was all about, set my min disk space to 0 to avoid future show deletions, then set the recording mechanism back to WME7 (the way it was with pvs 1.1) and let it record the shows for today. all shows, except for my last one (the simpsons) had an all green screen with a small horizontal band of static at the top and only static for audio. the simpsons recorded fine. i didn't change any settings or stop or restart snapstream or anything all day. after the simpsons recorded, i noticed that all of my shows in my snapstream directory were deleted except for the ones recorded today. i checked the log file and this it what it said:

[4/24/2001 19:00:17] Shows.Expire: 2473984 bytes free. No more shows can be auto-deleted to free disk space. Please free up disk space manually.

i checked through all of my recording entries and every single one of them has the "fixed content" box checked. i also checked the min free disk space value and it is still 0. also, my total free disk space never dipped below 500M all of today. luckily, after what happened with my invader zim shows, i've been backing up all my absolute favorites to a different directory not associated with pvs, so i still have copies of everything that i really want. i also installed norton utilities 2.0 for win nt last night and i was able to unerase all shows deleted today. but what's going on here?

i do copy some shows via windows networking from home to my office win2k media server everyday and i do sometimes manually delete shows via windows networking from my office off of my home machine. could this be thowing pvs for a loop somehow? there are no clues in the log file that i could find.

my home machine:

windows 2000 server SP1
IE 5.5 SP1
abit kt7 w/ duron 700mhz
256M pc133 RAM
Hauppauge Win-TV Go
SB Live Value
3c905c NIC
DX 8.0a

it still recorded an all-green screen with a horizontal band of static at the top for all of my shows yesterday except for the last one. i think pvs thinks i have antena reception rather than cable, even though my options still say cable (the last show is channel 8 while the others are all above 14).

i uninstalled pvs and deleted the snapstream directory in program files, reinstalled a fresh version of v1.2, re-entered settings and recordings, and everything looks good so far.

moral of the story: don't upgrade pvs. unintsall the existing version and delete the snapstream directory, then install the new version and re-enter settings & programs.
