Well, after a few weeks of using SS and Robert helping me to get it going again with my guide and networking.... I am ready for the next step -

First let me say I work for a communications company and we have both cable and DirecTV, so I can have either or both. I have cable hooked to my computer, directly without the cable box. And I get most of the channels, but a few are scrambled. When I have the cable box hooked to my TV, it is the type that you have to change channels on the box, not on the TV - the same principal as DirecTV.

Is is possible to use that sort of cable (or DirecTV) with the computer and SS? When I use to have the cable hooked to my TV, I couldn't use the VCR to record on different channels without first turning the cable box to that channel.

Could somebody explain if/how it can work with my setup?

Well, I don't have it right now, so I can't give you a model number, but I can get one from work - it's Scientific Atlanta, like I said, no model number, but they are OLD - probably early 90's -

your probably going to have to use the irblaster dodads (kinda like the cable the sat/cable boxes have to control a vcr) the one on the snapstream store is currently out of stock and should be until mid december as im told, they also support this one:
