Re: Can that Windows program replace Beyond TV?

FWIW, I've experienced the same bug. When watching a recording-in-progress, or live TV that's been paused, the 'skip back' button actually goes forward. The only way to go back is to mouse-click the timeline.

Re: Can that Windows program replace Beyond TV?

To install the older version it forced me to remove the newer one.

unfortunately I'm still having the very same bug in 4.9.2, I was sure i read this bug was added in 4.9.3.

Is there any fix or version of BTV that doesn't have this bug? It's really aggravating when trying to watch a recording in progress.

Re: Can that Windows program replace Beyond TV?

I have been on 4.9.2 for many years, and this is the first I have ever heard about this bug. I don't know what to tell you but I have never seen this behaviour even once.

You may try uninstalling, then searching your registry and deleting anything with Snapstream or BTV, then reinstall. This has worked for me with other programs in the past.

I have a feeling everyone saying they never saw this bug don't understand how to reproduce it, for those of you that think you don't have this bug please try this:

Wait for a recording to start and let it record 5 minutes or so before continuing. Now start the recording and skip forward a minute or so, now press the Skip Back button (NOT rewind, I'm talking about the button that jumps back a set number of seconds each time you press it). You'll see the skip back button actually skips forward (it might work for the very first press, press it a few more times and you'll see it's skipping forward instead of backwards).

Do you still not have the bug after following these steps? I think you were thinking I was talking about the rewind button, but it's the skip back button where this bug occurs.

Thanks

Re: Can that Windows program replace Beyond TV?

Sorry, man, just tried what you described and it skipped backwards for me. It wasn't the full 7 seconds I have it configured to skip but it did what it was asked to do.

Just thinking out loud - aab1, what codec are you using for playback? Perhaps whatever it is might be causing the issue for you?

Re: Can that Windows program replace Beyond TV?

Ok, here is what I observed. I do still have 4.9.2, and the test was done on my HVR-1600 with STB using analog.
I have the skip back button set to 10 seconds since I like the even amount. When I skip back it shows the ten second skip but then immediately jumps forward 3 seconds. Is it a coincidence that it's jumping to the 7 second mark which is the normal default or is that 3 seconds what you're referring to? My net result though is definitely less than the 10 seconds.

I hardly ever use live tv to be fair, but on the occasion I have for sporting types of stuff and can understand your desire to want this to work properly.

Can you record in MPEG2 and specify the resolution/bitrate? Can you skip back & forward a few seconds with a button on the remote?
You can Google "Windows Media Center" and your version of Windows for details on how the system works and what it can do.
There are a lot of little differences, much like saying how are McDonald's and KFC different. In a lot of meaningful ways they are the same, and in a lot of ways they are different, it's all your personal perspective.
You can try to use it to play your existing BTV to see if you like the behaviours. As I recall it only has fast forward, rewind, and click to point on media bar, but no jump/skip support. So if that is why you want to leave BTV...

I am not able to create the issue right now on 4.9.2 using the steps above but I have seen it on a few rare occasions. My work around when it happens is to pause the recording/show, then use the jump forward or jump back.
I tested watching AGT recording from an OTA source. Started 20 minutes after recording started. Over the hour used rewind about 12 times (crying kid, wife in and put of room) with multiple key presses each time, pause 5 times, and fast forward twice. In settings skip forward set to 15, skip back set to 6, and reaction delay set to 1.

Re: Can that Windows program replace Beyond TV?

Setting the skip back time to 10 seconds rather than 5 solved it, though it now skips back by 1-3 seconds instead of 10, at least I can skip back.
