clear QAM users

Many clear QAM users as of late have been submitting tickets for failed post processing features like SmartSkip, ShowSqueeze and iTunes Integration.

The majority of the time the issue is that the recording has been encrypted. The cable companies have been shuffling the lineups and encrypting many channels lately.

A good way to see whether the recording has been encrypted is to use VLC, play the recording with it and then click on Tools - Codec Information.

Look for the Scrambled field and it will say Yes (encrypted) or No (unencrypted).

If it says Yes, then your signal has been encrypted, so I would recommend removing the channel or perform a new scan and re-map your channels as other channels may have changed also.

If it says No, then you may actually have an issue and you should go ahead and submit a ticket.

Re: clear QAM users

I'm having that exact problem where my BTV 4 used to showsqueeze my *tp files without issues but now not only crashes my system but also causes a full shut down.

I've restricted the issue to showsqueeze.

I've tried both version 1.0.3 and 1.1.2 of VLC but cannot find the "Scrambled" feed in any menu or submenu of "Tools" in either version.

a) Are you using a different version?
b) Can you post a screenshot of the proper place in VLC?

Thanks!

Re: clear QAM users

Michael - apologies for the late reply, I'm not sure why I didn't get a notification about your reply.

No, I just checked it for three different files and that does not exist on my version of VLC, both 1.0.3 and 1.1.2.

Is there anything else that would cause it to have a full shutdown and/or crash when showsqueezing? When I play it on VLC, it plays just fine without stutters or dithering.

Any other potential ideas?

Thanks!

Re: clear QAM users

If your able to view the recording then it's not an encryption issue.

Go ahead and submit a ticket and a system upload so we can look further into your system.

Re: clear QAM users

Thanks again for the reply. I'll continue futzing with it to see if it might be something else then before I submit in a ticket.

Re: clear QAM users

Posted this in another thread relating to "mapping QAM channels", but thought it was worthwhile mentioning here to ensure unencrypted content is captured during the setup proces. Use the following link as a guide for mapping the QAM channels respective to your area and cable provider (key words FIOS, Cox cable, COMCAST).

Re: clear QAM users

I know this is an Old Topic, but need help with my .tp files over clear Qam.
The problem is when BeyondTV records the show in the log files its saying its timing out waiting for a signal, and i get corrupted .tp files. Nothing that I use can view these files.
I can watch the channel live so its not encrypted.
This happens to all my HD channels.

The weird thing is it just started happening. First it was only a few channels that would corrupt, now its all HD channels.

Windows 7, hauppauge HVR2250.
4.9 BTV
Latest 2250 drivers

Thanks !

I think your tuner driver has a headache.

Do a HWClear and remove all references to Hauppauge, reboot, reinstall the appropriate drivers, reboot, run BTV setup and rescan the QAM channels. Then reboot again.

If that fails, then maybe its Win7 and security.

The thing is, I already reinstalled Windows 7. But i did use easy transfer for the Snapstream folder so it would keep all my settings.
But i did clear out the clear Qam and re-added them with the setup wizard.
So not sure what to do. Never had this much trouble with XP

The latest drivers are an issue with the 2250.. The driver that works flawlessly is the 27323..

You can FTP to Hauppauge.com and download them there.. There is no link on the web site for the 27323 drivers..

FTP -> Hauppauge.com
Folder -> SUPPORT
Folder -> HVR2250
Download the 2250_27323.zip file

Make sure you do the HWclear to clear out the old drivers, and reboot before installing the 27323 drivers..

I'm thinking I'm having all kinds of issues now.
Removed the New Drivers with HWclear, rebooted. Installed the 27323 drivers.
uninstalled BeyondTV completely, reinstalled

The problem now is the HD channels are overlaying over the SD channels like they should. But not showing in HD and will not record in HD
I used the Setup wizard and mapped the clear Qam channels to the SD channels but when I go and record them they are recording in .mpg.
Arn't the HD channels suppose to record in .tp?

Any help on what to look for? Settings maybe?

Re: clear QAM users

First you should have 2 sources for each tuner (on the 2250) (which it looks like you have)..
Then you should have 2 channel lineups.. 1 for the SD channels, and 1 for the HD channels (QAM)..
Make sure the SD channels that have HD overlays are hidden, in the SD lineup, and vise versa..
