Setting UP MVP

Hi All,

I just have a question for you here. I am currently using Sage. I used Beyond TV in the past and was very happy with it. I switched to Sage to give it a good try for about 6 months because a client of mine was interested in how it compared to BTV.

After using it for a few months I personally like BTV better. I will admit, I like Sage's intergration with DVD/Photo/Music better. I don't especially like having to have two apps to do the same thing on BTV. Only a minor problem though.

My main queestion is this. I have a Hauppauge MVP. With Sage. I didn't have to isntall anything to get it working. It simply worked with the current Sage software.

I have been reading about the MVP and BTV in the forums hre. I really like the look of the skin. I understand to install the skin I need to download or use the Hauppauge software for the MVP. Install it, and then run the skin. My questin is this. Do I need to keeep the software installed for BTV to utilize the MVP? Or does BTV have a simlliar setup to sage. Will it work with the MVP after I install the skin?

I just don't like having so many diffrent software packages running in order to do one thing untimatley. Or at least, the perception of one thing. I understand each piece has it's point.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Setting UP MVP

The setup is very similar to the way Sage does it. Main difference is you will be installing the hauppauge software, then installing the skin on the MVP. After that you will have to tell the MVP where the music, video, tv files are (you do this from your BTV server PC) and from that point on there is nothing special that needs to be done. As long as your server BTV is on, you can hit power on the MVP, it connects and thats it.

Detailed instructions are available HERE in the first post of that thread.

Not a problem. Let me know if I can help when you set it up.
