Re: Intel NUC

I've been thinking about upgrading my Link to a NUC, especially since Intel is now releasing a slightly bigger one that takes a standard HDD, not just a SSD.

Re: How "Smart" is SmartSkip

Re: BTV Link Web Based Remote?

To the best of my knowledge, there isn't a web-interface remote for Link. Your best bet if you want to use your phone is to find an app/server remote such as MediaMote, it mimcs a WMC remote which...

Re: Active BTV Users

There's a very tiny part of me that really hopes that someone at SnapStream is listening to our pleas. But a very big part of me fears that it's all falling on deaf ears. :(

And it all boils down...

Re: Win 8.1 tablet + BTV Link!!!

I have a Chromecast (was part of the Netflix 3 free months crowd) and an iPad 3. Youtube, HBOGO and Chrome all work great with it, I'm happy to say. :D

Re: Performance... what else can I do?

OK, I have a 500GB VelociRaptor installed. Now... should I just added as a folder and manually schedule the shows to it, or add it as a pool and let BTV manage it?

Re: Performance... what else can I do?

I didn't... the folder had video files from another source so I just removed the folder. I now just play those files through XBMC.

Re: Performance... what else can I do?

OK, I'll be monitoring the NIC during tonight's recording.

Michael Bui has resolved the BTVNetworkService.exe issue... a bad recording in one of my folders was causing the issue. I just renamed...

Re: Performance... what else can I do?

I went with small-box with this pvr, so the MB only has one PCI slot, which is used for the eSATA card. The only alternative would be a USB-Ethernet option.

My NIC is RealTek, but I ran the tests anyway and here are the results:

Re: Performance... what else can I do?

Well, it looks like it's still recording shows, but I can't connect to the server, I don't know if guide updates are working or not, if not have about 10-12 days to get this resolved.

I don't have...

Re: Performance... what else can I do?

Yes, however all my viewing is done from the RAID0. My goal was to create two recording destinations and one viewing source.

Re: Performance... what else can I do?

My SiI3132 does have a second eSATA port (although it's 3Gbps).

How about I add another eSATA external drive to that port as well (500GB - 1TB) AND a Velociraptor drive to the internal 6Gbps port...

Re: Performance... what else can I do?

We only have one Link doing the viewing as well on the PC in the living room. No viewing is done at the server - strictly recording.

So, OK, the main question is: Would the Velociraptor be capable...

Re: Performance... what else can I do?

You said that you use a small partition for recording and the rest for long-term storage. I take it that that area is used for viewing as well. Isn't that also introducing I/O issues?

I have room...

Re: Performance... what else can I do?

We record A LOT of TV, so yes, in total we have 8 tuners to allow for the 5min padding between recordings, but in the last 3 weeks, only the 7th tuner ever came into play about 4 times, it doesn't...
