Re: Google acquires SageTV
I started with BTV and went over to Sage about 2-1/2 years ago. I hated it at first.
BTV was better/simpler/faster at a lot of things, but obviously it's not being taken care of anymore.
Sage...

Re: Google buys SageTV
Well, I went over to Sage from BTV a couple years ago. It's a completely different mindset to get used to, but it offers a lot of potential.
And their extenders eliminate 95% of the hassles vs. a...

Re: HD-PVR Hangs
Coming from the Sage camp, and having also used BTV before, I can tell you this much:
Everyone over there beat the digital heads against the wall with all sorts of theories, including USB issues...

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support
I have not been following this thread so maybe this has already been suggested:
Hauppauge only supports one IR blaster channel. If you have a second Hauppauge IR controllable card or such, it...

I don't know about the full contents of the thread you are being referred to, but I suggest you consider controlling your Dish receiver with a USB-UIRT IR USB blaster AND to stop it from turning...

Re: alternate h.264 decoder for playback?
I'm fuzzy on this because I have not used BTV for a while, but you will probably need to raise the merit of the preferred H.264 decoder.
I use Cyberlink's H.264 decoder pack on Sage. Core makes...

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support
I'll toss this out FWIW, and maybe some people won't have to re-live some of the HD-PVR issues I have had to.
1. Use the shortest USB cable you can. I never realized this until someone informed...

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support
I've done that as well. No difference. Whatever they changed in their revisions, it does not seem to be very much. I've heard the digitizer in the unit was basically a camcorder-based hardware...

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support
Just a couple of FWIW's from a person who uses BTV and Sage :
Sage people experience the same things with the HD-PVR, and Sage is totally different than BTV in its implementation.
I use the...

Re: svchost.exe and BTV 4.8.2
I realize this is not a solution per se, but this is one of the reasons I switched to a competing product for most TV recording.
BTV was eating my CPU alive for no apparent reason, including...

Obviously I'm a little late to this thread, but I went through the same thing and finally, after changing out every cable from my cable feed to the HD-PVR found out it was signal quality, as I could...

Re: Hauppauge IR Receiver stopped working
If you are just using one Hauppauge IR-capable product, and all was well, and all show well in the Device Manager, I think FM is right - you may have a true hardware issue. One other thing - is the...

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support
If you have more than one Hauppauge IR capable device they will fight it out. Your HD-PVR and your sanity will probably be the losers in this battle. Hauppauge can only handle one IR blaster...

Re: 0x000004 errors with Hauppauge 2250
I agree the PS is worth a look, especially if you have a lot of hard drives you record to. I chased tons of errors around until I upped my PSU by about 170% from about 500 to 850 watts.
All...

Re: Where is Version 5.0
I switched to Sage. Better. More customizable. More stable. Very different so took me a couple of months. If you just want the handholding, it's about 95% as polished as BTV. If you want to...

Re: Can't get the Arcsoft Codec for HD PVR
FWIW, newer versions of TME "hide" the Arcsoft codec. If you search around on BTV's competitor's site you can find a slightly complicated procedure for "unhiding" the codec so that it can be...

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support
I have had a similar experience with HD-PVR and Sage. I refuse to let Hauppauge or Arcsoft update drivers, apps, or IR control. I let them all do that and my HD-PVR became a useless mess of tilings...

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support
Actually, I did also set the delay back to default from 4000ms. No problem. And just for the heck of it, I launched BTV the other day again from a new P5Q Premium MB (it was on a Supermicro board)....

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support
In a reply to previous posts - I am now about one month out with SageTV and have had 1 lockup with my HD-PVR that I now know that I caused (I tried to watch a H.264 video over a Remote Desktop).

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support
Well, 1 hang in about 21 days of using the HD-PVR with Sage. BTV was 2X per day. And that's not counting the annoying BTV Network Service eating my server's CPU alive.
The choice for me is easy.
