Re: check...check...

You have to be elite to still be hanging around these parts ;)

Re: It's starting to happen...

I can't imagine they would delete posts like that at this point... Rakesh even recommended SageTV or MC to someone on twitter I believe.

That comskip issues is easily dealt with. I'm always...

Re: It's starting to happen...

There's still a page for consumer and they seem to be more than happy for someone to purchase BeyondTV for $99 ;) Consumer link is at the bottom of the main Snapstream page. As far as I can tell...

Re: Moving on

Switching to which one? There are two different such guides on switching to SageTV on GeekTonic and 100s of forum threads describing the switch. I imagine there are plenty for MediaCenter as well. ...

Re: Latest pronouncement on the death of Beyond TV. Sadface.

Sorry. Yes, I meant getting blu-ray to an extender (which means XBox360 these days for MC). Although MS doesn't really help you get Blu-ray working. Lets put it this way. If you want to stream a...

Re: Latest pronouncement on the death of Beyond TV. Sadface.

The writing has been on the wall (er forums) for quite a long time... SS is doing great with their TV Search product - they have some very big-name customers likely providing them with all of the...

Re: Upcoming Fall TV Programming 2010

I always do one on GeekTonic and actually have a not-posted list of everything publicly planned by the networks. But past experience has taught me not to be the "first" to post these Season TV...

Re: For all of you HDHR fans...and ex-clear QAM users

It will definitely be something that each software program (except perhaps MythTV) will need to add support for individually.

Re: For all of you HDHR fans...and ex-clear QAM users

:) Funny that you would throw in that link. I learned of that story from this very thread, researched it and posted it on GeekTonic and Ben linked to my article and the original forum post and here...

Re: For all of you HDHR fans...and ex-clear QAM users

Sorry but that (hacking the shackles on CableCard) will never happen in my opinion. Any company can get CableCard ability - they just have to drop the cash and time. SageTV has considered it but as...

Re: For all of you HDHR fans...and ex-clear QAM users

The other thing is that this is for copy freely channels only. Which will be a lot fewer channels on most cable systems than we would prefer.

Re: For all of you HDHR fans...and ex-clear QAM users

Well it is definitely positive, but we're not there yet. Here's what Nick went on to say:
"There is a ECR under review that would enable us to stream copy-freely content without requiring DRM...

Re: Sage TV Releases Version 7

I don't think thats it really Nick. I consider Rakesh a friend and from what I understand SS has zero intention of dropping BTV support - seriously if they intended to do that they would have done...

Re: Sage TV Releases Version 7

Hmm, all I can tell you is that isn't normal. Comskip and ShowAnalyzer are the two commercial skip applications that would take the place of BTV's smartskip (smartskip is actually based on comskip...

Your post had some questions about SageTV in it so I'll attempt to answer - these are my opinions of course:

There is no and was no sluggishness with navigation before in SageTV and isn't now...

Re: Features I'd Like to See in BTV 5

I'm not understanding why people here are expecting or even hoping anything new for BTV. SS has been very public in saying the consumer side is not the focus or even in any plans. BTV is what it is...

Re: Hellooo...anyyy onnnnnne therrrrre....????

I'll admit, I'm a lurker here at the SS forums as I have it in my blood. If I were in this situation (Using BTV as my PVR) and thinking of switching to another alternative, I'd wait just a little...

Re: I just noticed something, and I wanted to say...

I can't stay away. BeyondTV was my first, solid computer-based PVR (Meedios was first HTPC - even before BTV) and I'll always be grateful to the Snapstream guys for that. And theres still several...

Re: Why I threw out my copy of BeyondTV

ditto to the prev two posts above.

I've said it before (I think even in this thread). There IS NO PERFECT HTPC FOR EVERY PERSON.

I have my preference for my home, but I'm not blinded so much...
