Re: Joost!

Not very impressed, not big selection so far (it is beta), medium quality, interface is a memory hog. Has potential, wouldn't pay a subscription so it has to be ad supported (or be something as part of my satellite plan). Viacom is going this way, so hopefully a source for Daily show/colbert.

THe itunes lunacy just won't cut it, pay per episode for a show? They either need a monthly subscription, or addon for cable, or ad supported to and ideally I want to be able to watch on my laptop or pda, usually when flying or something.

Re: Joost!

Joost beta testers should now have unlimited invites, but I don't see that yet even after upgrading to the latest version 0.9.4.

Also I haven't been able to view a program yet. It always says something like, "program is unavailable now". Does this need to be hardwired and not capable of good wireless streaming? I can't believe that. I'm using the Mac client on my MacBook Pro.

I was having problems last night with Joost. It has been better all other times I tried it. They must be having network problems.

Re: Joost!

Well I see that I now have 999 invites to give away. Since I don't want to be sending out invites all day I'll limit it to 10 for now.

Get an invite here:

Joost profile

Here's a simple profile file for use with Joost to allow at least some things like play,Pause, Info and Mute to work with the Firefly remote

To use paste into a notepad and save to a file named
Joost-Joost Technologies.xml in the

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Firefly\Profiles

folder

then stop and restart FireFly.

=====start copy========
<Profile Type="SnapStream.Firefly.Core.Profile" Name="Joost" ShowOSD="True">
<Identifier ClassName="MozillaUIWindowClass" xWindowText="Joost" FileName="" />
<Actions Button="Right" Description="Right">
<KeyAction Keys="{right}" />
</Actions>
<Actions Button="Left" Description="Left">
<KeyAction Keys="{left}" />
</Actions>
<Actions Button="Down" Description="Down">
<KeyAction Keys="{down}" />
</Actions>
<Actions Button="Up" Description="Up">
<KeyAction Keys="{up}" />
</Actions>
<Actions Button="OK" Description="Select">
<KeyAction Keys="{enter}" />
</Actions>
<Actions Button="Exit" Description="Esc">
<KeyAction Keys="{esc}" />
</Actions>
<Actions Button="Info" Description="Info">
<KeyAction Keys="i" />
</Actions>
<Actions Button="Play" Description="Play/Pause">
<KeyAction Keys="P" />
</Actions>
<Actions Button="Pause" Description="Play/Pause">
<KeyAction Keys="P" />
</Actions>
<Actions Button="Mute" Description="Mute">
<KeyAction Keys="{f8}" />
</Actions>
</Profile>
======= end copy======

Re: Joost!

Any thoughts on how to map a button to the "<" keyboard shortcut? That's the one you need to open up the channel list, which seems pretty crucial. Every time I try to add this option to the XML file though, Firefly fails to recognize my Joost settings.

You probably need some escape character with it... Try to find another profile using the "<" and see how it's done...
