Expanding angle of us for IR sensors

I have an I repeater to get the remote's IR signal to the PC where BeyondTV is running.

It works absolutely fabulous if I am sit directly in front of the TV. Unfortunately if I am off to either side, it doesn't work as well.

Is there any way to improve the field of view of the IR sensor? Perhaps a lens to focus the IR signal?

Any other work around?

Take Care

Re: Expanding angle of us for IR sensors

I bet if you took the repeater apart, you'd find the IR receiver is too recessed. If so, a bit of Xacto knife surgery may help. Might also be worth trying one of those flat credit card magnifying glasses on the front of the repeater. Not sure which side should face out, but it should serve as a bunch of little prisms collecting light. This would probably only work if there's physical contact between the lens & the IR receiver.
