tuner

I have a 1080p benq projector that I need a tuner for. My cable is by comcast. I go from cable to tuner to projector. No pc.
Any suggestions?

I don't use a PC nor do I want to record.

thanks

Re: tuner

3 decent choices:
Internal Hauppauge HVR2250 - has one cable input for dual tuners can display Clear QAM SD and HD. Motherboard needs a PCIex1.
Buy 2 Hauppauge (or just one if you only need one tuner) HVR1250 unit so that you can have different sources instead of both having to be Clear QAM or OTA. Motherboard needs a PCIex1.
Buy a SiliconDust HDHR. My favorite. Network based so you can put it in another room or basement. Has separate connections for both tuners and can be OTA and Clear QAM. Live TV even on my "Crappy" 51" rear projection is great. This unit generally costs the most so look for sales in the $125-130 range. Network should be at least 100mb.

I'm confused. Why aren't you able to connect your Comcast settop box directly to the projector with component cables or HDMI?

Re: tuner

Mayhem 70

I don't have a comcast settop box. THe comcast cable comes into the house and is routed around. It goes to various rooms including my media room where I have a projector. I do not have a tv in the media room and
I need a tuner for the projector. The cable goes directly into the tv in other rooms. Does a settop box function as a tuner?

thanks

Re: tuner

Yes, a set top box is a tuner. You would want to get a HDTV box with outputs that are compatable with your projector, preferably DVI or HDMI. No computer or input card required.
