VIP222 second tuner control

I have looked around but I can't see anyway to do this. So I thought I would ask if anyone here has a solution. I have Dish network satellite and my BTV server is connected to a VIP222 receiver. Is there anyway to control the second tuner in the box. The first tuner can be controlled via IR, and my USB-UIRT works great. The second tuner is meant to be controlled in another room via an RF remote, and there is no serial or fire wire to the box that can be used. Is there any kind of RF tuning solution out there?

Re: VIP222 second tuner control

Unfortunately, there is no standard for RF device control (yet.)

It might be possible to use an alternate code on your IR remote to run the second tuner; you'd have to check the manual to see how to set the code.

Re: VIP222 second tuner control

speaking of which... remote 2 has an IR emitter, since it's also a universal remote. Have you checked to see if it sends IR as well as RF to the satellite receiver?

Try pointing the remote at a digital camera (webcam, phone cam, whatever) and pushing a button. If it's sending IR, you'll see the LED light up in the camera's viewfinder.
