Re: New Atom platform in Mini-ITX vs BTV Link?

I did get my hands on some HDPVR Recordings and running them through BTV Link I did see that it was choppy and unwatchable. I played them directly through Vista Media Center with the MPC-HC h264 Decoder and they played back just fine. I wonder if you set the decoder to MPC in BTV if it will work any better. If I give it a try I will update.

Re: New Atom platform in Mini-ITX vs BTV Link?

Does anyone know where there are some test HD-PVR files out there to test with? I've got an intel atom and I'm preparing myself to be unhappy with it. As long as normal SD HD work through BTV that should be good enough.

Re: New Atom platform in Mini-ITX vs BTV Link?

I used the links at the bottom of this review by GeekTonic, GeekTonic: Hauppauge HD-PVR Unboxing & First Look

There are HDPVR recordings there but also the other link ZetaVu gave.

SD and HD work flawlessly on my Asrock 330 in BTV as long as it is MPEG2 based.

Jakesty, which Intel Atom is it?

Re: New Atom platform in Mini-ITX vs BTV Link?

Zeta, thanks, I'll give that a try tomorrow.

I've got the D945GCLF2 motherboard. Intel Atom 330 1.6ghz with dual core and hyperthreaded. I'm not really sure that 4 procs will make a difference in general usage. I did watch some minor Flash graphics on the web and saw some "Blinds" affect where there would be a stutter in the middle about every few seconds. But I still need to update the graphics and such on the system if it makes a difference. Windows 7 Ultimate RC 7100 with 2gb memory.

Re: New Atom platform in Mini-ITX vs BTV Link?

Ok, here's the test results for this, which I was surprised with. Recordings done with Comcast SD/analog, Digital, and OTA HD.

Failed:
MPEG recordings (uncompressed of course), SD, typically stutters. Not really watchable.
Digital recordings via HDHR (also uncompressed), also stutters.
H.264 test sample, stutters.

Success: (all below worked without glitches)
OTA HD 720p via HVR-1600 (uncompressed), works! I'm surprised!
DVD rip to DIVX, success.
MPEG Showsqueezed to DIVX works.
Bit Torrent of XVID file works.
